The views could have been better

We booked our stay at Hotel Catalunya Plaza over the internet. I had been to Barcelona before so knew the location was great. The reviews seemed good and the pictures looked lovely so we went ahead. After a seamless journey we were given champagne on arrival which was a really nice start to our holiday. We had a room on the fourth floor - you can get the lift to the 3rd floor and then have to walk the rest but its not far. Unfortuately though the room was tiny with absolutely no view. It was really clean though and the bathroom was a good size, actually about half the size of the bedroom! The shower was made for short people which wasn't a problem for me but it was a different story for my boyfriend! As far as noise goes, our room was at the back of the hotel so there was no noise from Plaza Catalunya, but the walls were pretty thin so we could hear our neighbours conversations/TV occaisionally. The lift makes quite a racket too but its suprising what you get used to! And there was a particularly noisy vent near our window. We stayed 4 nights and although it wasn't the most spacious room with the most romantic view we had a fab time. If you want to go to Barcelona to stay in your room all day then I wouldn't suggest this place unless you can guarantee a room at the front of the hotel which seemed larger. But really if all you want is a base for your holiday then you only need a comfy bed (which ours was), helpful staff (and they were) and a great starting point whether you want to head down La Ramblas to the ports or up into L'Eixample (which this place is). Overall, the hotel is clean, staff are friendly and you can't beat the location. (99645400)

We liked the position, overlooking Plaza Catalunya. The personal attention that the staff provided.

The Air Conditioning was not working when we arrived. It was fixed by the final night of our three night stay. It would have been awful to stay in one of the smaller rooms at the back.

The hotel was in an excellent location a few yards from the metro and at the top of Le Ramblas. It was extremely clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. If I went to Barcelona again I would definately stay there. (99428986)

There was no hot wather in the bathroom on wednesday. There was no information from the hotelmanagement about this problem and about their expectations to resolve the problem (for example a little message in the room with an informative notice)
