This is an excellent hotel at Catania. It is located up in the hills on the northern side and commands an all around view of the city, including views of Mt. Etna. Room rates (off season) are attractive (only 23 euros for a single room; normally 50 euros in season). The room is clean, spacious with a brand new wardrobe and a good size desk. Breakfast was included and there were lots of choices (but no hot food and only two choices of cereals). Coffee was great and expresso was also available for free. Internet was available at 0.05 euro per minute (3 euros per hour) but no wireless. Staff spoke little English, but were all very friendly and helpful in every way. The hotel was served from downtown by bus no. 526, 144, and 628 but buses were infrequent, especially weekends and holidays, and you need to have already bought tickets. The hotel does not serve lunch or dinner, but it is only a 20 minutes walk downhill to town. There is a vending machine for drinks and snacks. The TV in the room is fairly small (13 inch perhaps). I like best the views of Catania while walking the stairs. Four windows look like four moving picture frames giving you different views each step of the way. There is also a small verandah on each floor, and with permission, you probably can go up to the (flat) roof for a panoramic view of the city. Even at seasonal rates, this hotel is very good value. positive comments Everything, almost.
negative comments No alarm clock and no instruction on how to make internal phone calls. Also, charges for internal phone calls are very expensive (21 euros for a few minutes call to New York). The drainage in the shower is not fast enough, although it would be difficult to have an overflow because of the high rims.

It would have been helpful to have greater detail about how to find the hotel. Information about how far restaurants were away; and where they were would have helped. However, overall the hotel was excellent value for the money. (97502926)

positive comments Very clean, well kept room. Staff very helpful. Breakfast good. Great value for the money.
negative comments Difficult to find hotel each night. Long way from restaurants in Catania.

The Hotel was nice and quiet, not in the c entre of the city. It seemed to be safe, which is quite important in some regions. over all a good choice as long you don't look for a Club Med style hotel! (99382324)

positive comments A nice view over the city AND to the Etna!
