The faults above are minor quibbles. GM, as the site's other reviews show clearly, is a very reliable place to stay for the traveller looking for a very quiet, discreet, peaceful place in Garmisch. The breakfast was a treat for the Brit, what with Rice Crispies, Frosties and Sugar Puffs being available, never mind the staple German delicacies such as smoked ham and boiled eggs which we also enjoyed. The breakfast room was wonderful too, with its mountain view, probably the best such room I have ever troughed in. And I loved the totally laid back approach to the end of the meal: no rush to get out at 10, no hassle, no pressure - it was just perfect. One tip: note down very precise directions from the Booking.com map. Use the town church as a marker. I didn't and comfortably got lost.

There are many of these. The gastaus was immaculate, close to town, with a terrific breakfast. Our room was huge, if a little corporate in feel. The garden was lovely (I had a wonderful hour's read there the morning after we arrived), peaceful, and the atmosphere overall was very easy going. We appreciated the coffee flask on one afternoon, too, and the great bar prices, though we didn't get around to actually needing any!

3 things: first, the breakfast coffee was very weak. Coffee is big with us, so we were disappointed, but of course, being English, were too polite to ask the hosts to beef it up for us. Second, I was disappointed that the box of tissues in the bathroom wasn't replenished when it was empty. I had a ruddy cold so it would have been useful to have had a new box. It was empty after our first day. Again, I should have asked for it to be fixed, but being typically English...
Thirdly: the evening we arrived I spilled some juice on my bedsheet. If I'm honest, I expected a place as immaculate as GM to have replaced it the next morning but it was left spoiled for the rest of our three night stay. Perhaps I'm being unrealistic here in expecting a new bedsheet to have been put on, but there we are.
