Staff very apologetic about the error above. We were given a complementary bottle of wine. The remainder of the stay was fine. Some concern about the online booking being cancelled.
(107259042)

Our online booking was cancelled for reason unknown.
Designated room was found to have not been cleaned and we had to be relocated.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 11 September 2008
Lovely grounds and atmosphere but spoilt by bad booking system and worrying whether we would have to find somewhere else, also whether we would be in time for our 8.00pm Restaurant appointment.
(107253848)

Security staff were very helpful when they found there was no room available for us because someone was still using the room allocated to us.

Bad booking system. If someone hasn't booked out of a room there should be a way to detect this in your system. We had to wait just over an hour for the staff to find a room that was available and had been cleaned!

Very enjoyable and perfectly placed for visiting Audley End(concert) and Duxford(museum)

The price , location, suroundings, staff, breakfast, and prior info. provided.

The double bed was too narrow.... 6ft husband 5ft 4" wife

Two nights OK but would have moved out if planned stay was any longer.
(107127832)

Room clean, bright with nice aspect (shower small). Food (only breakfast available) good.

No bar or restraurant or evening meals. At breakfast staff insisted that you sat where settings were! Too much security. Hinxton not a hotel. Others I met were caught out by web. Local pub staff stated that we were not the first to be surprised at "hotel" accommodation.

It is a residential block on a University linked campus, in what used to be a stately home. Lovely setting, but rooms quite impersonal and practical. (No charm, but what the heck)

Efficient, clean and in lovely grounds

Generally good as the Hall & grounds are very impressive & beautiful. The staff are very helpful, but they need to pay attention to detail regarding the bedrooom cleanliness & bathing facilities
(108084526)

Beautiful location, historical interest of Hall, helpfulness of staff, lovely English breakfast

More attention to detail required when cleaning bedrooms (crumbs & dust in corners of carpet & fire place, calcification on shower head), only one bath towel provided in the room which was booked for two people, did not find it easy to locate Reception as signage not good, people allowed to make lots of noise at seating area under our bedroom windows late at night until we complained

The grounds were nice

I have stayed in Travel Inns of a higher standard. The web site gave very wrong impression and I am looking at Trades Description action. Room had inadequate ventilation and staff unable to solve. Still waiting refund on nights cancelled. It was the worst Hotel I have stayed in.

Well placed - we visited Audley End and Cambridge. Good value, lovely location.
(108017820)

Lovely location - historic 18th Century Hall in Parkland setting - very nice room excellent full English breakfast included. Nice pub nearny in village for evening meals.

Nothing really bad but room could have done with an armchair as well as the single wooden table chair (there were two of us). Plus a few pictures on the wall would have made it more homely. However appreciate its a conference centre rather than a country hotel.

Cannot fault this accommodation

Excellent value for money. Excellent breakfast and pleasant surroundings.

This is an upmarket bed & breakfast establishment not a hotel, where you have to fend for yourselves - do not expect any help from reception because they do not give any or make you feel welcome. It is a very quiet place to stay in pleasant surroundings.
(108082844)

Very nice room in the Hall & beautiful grounds - very good housekeeping & bar staff. Very good choice of food for breakfast each day. The housekeeper we found in the end could not have been more pleasant or helpfull, she showed us to our room and where to find breakfast the following morning.

Poor & unhelpfull reception - very poor organisataion - no directions were given to which building our room was in or how to get to the room once we had found the building.
We were told that the bar & resturant were not open over the weekend when in fact the bar was open on both nights, the resturant was only open for breakfast. The barman was not very happy as he had no customers on the first night & only us on the second night as no one knew he was there. Breakfast was only available for 1 hour on each day.

very happy with the stay, was sons pass off parade so it was ideal
(108057907)

everything was excellent but the rooms were very hot even with the windows open and the fan on and the raditors off, if the temp could be controlled a bit better that would have been good.

Room was nice.Clean and the beds was really comfortable. Pleased with WIFI.

After I had checked-in and went for a pub meal nearby, another chap was given my room key and allocated it. As I returned to my room he was coming out of it explaining that reception had said this was his room. Luckily nothing had been tampered with and I was not a couple sharing the room.
They really need to review how this mistake happened and then what they can do to prevent a reoccurrence.
As adjoining doors and facilities are used they can be heard throughout the complex.
Glyn from Guildford, GB (Solo business traveller) 06 July 2008
Excellent and very different - Breakfast was superb. Security is of the highest standard as it is within the Wellcome Genome Research Park - A bit disconcerting at first, but you won't need to worry about your own safety or that of your car!
(108009146)

Quiet, clean, comfortable, close to Cambridge with very good pub food a short walk away in Hinxton.

Water in the shower and hand basin was far too hot for safety. I would not want a child to use either in case of scalding
