Started badly with bump to a different, smaller room because they had 'misadvertised', and required to find cash to pay because they didn't accept credit cards. Curtain left a 6-inch gap open at the bottom on street-facing 1st floor window. Breakfast was at 8am when earlier is necessary for business travellers, especially as it is 15 minutes from the nearest tube station. (107413033)

positive comments It was warm and the bed was clean
negative comments badly fitted curtain, broken bedside lamp, loose lock, poor tv reception, cramped bathroom/shower cubicle, breakfast served too late for business travellers, room not as advertised on website, credit cards not accepted.

Absolutely disgusted, I have contacted Trading Standards and they have passed it to a H&S Officer. We had to pay cash for the room before being taken up - now I know why, no refund was offered. (107257853)

positive comments Location.
negative comments The bathroom stank. We could not use it in the morning and had to leave unshowered. We had to keep a window open all night because of the smell it was disgusting. We couldnt sleep because of the noise and it was so cold. We arrived back at 1am and no one was about to talk to so had to try sleep and I therefore spoke to the staff in the morning who were distincly disinterested. No one wanted to take control.

positive comments Good position for transport access to London. Clean Towel each day. A very basic breakfast room, but pleasant staff.
negative comments 1.Unusual to be asked and insistent to ask for total cash settlement on Arrival and before being allowed the room keys, especially when booked for several nights. 2.Was worried at the lack of safety doors on the staircases.Fire would be raging before the persons on the upper floors had a chance to get out that way. 3.There was no hot water for the shower in my room on the saturday. It was suggested that I run the tap for 10 minutes, but I`d tried this to no avail.

Bathroom had a shower area which was so stained we would not use it. . (107236407)

negative comments No hot water. Booking for twin room but provided with double bed and a fold up bed which was very close to the floor. Advised "that is what you get for £80!! Also no breakfast served until 0800 which is very late especially as we had to leave hotel by 0745.

I think we were given a staff room as it had two separated bunk beds and a torn shower curtain half hanging off and NO HOT WATER. No tea or coffee facilities, no wardrobe or chest of drawers. My partner is 6' 7' and the bed had an end rail. I always book rooms with divan beds deliberately. (97255012)

negative comments The booked room was for single despite my paper work showing i'd booked a standard double room and was also told we had to pay more.

positive comments there were no good points, except chocolate cake for breakfast which was novel. i have taken photographs of the room which I will be sending to British Trading standards and was ashamed to think that foreign visitors staying at the hotel would think that this was 'the norm' for British accommodation
negative comments hygiene and cleanliness can not be sacrificed in the name of 'budget accommodation'

Very basic. More a hostel than hotel. (108031529)

positive comments Close to coach station. Bedding was clean.
negative comments Room was too small for number of beds crammed in, no wardrobe. Ensuite was a broomcupboard - literally! No , actually broom cupboards are bigger. The cleanliness of the room was somewhat dubious although the bathcupboard was clean. Only one plug socket in the room worked. The window kept falling down - would have been dangerous if you were looking out at the time.

positive comments room clean, tidy, sufficent. Breakfast was fine, nice to have B&B and able to sit down and eat without a host pestering you about what you're doing today
negative comments Cold shower

Just what we wanted, somewhere cheap and cheerful. (97764007)

positive comments Good location and value for money - run down but as expected given the price. Staff were friendly.
negative comments We booked 3 rooms online but only got 2 on arrival - not great for 6 adult males.

negative comments The hotel told us on arrival that no booking existed and that the booking agency were always doing this .Therefore we definitely would not use your services again. Perhaps you regard this as standard practice. Yours Chris nye

On arrival, we were asked to pay by cash, as the 'machine was playing up'. When I paid by credit card, not having that sort of cash, they tried to charge £4 more, (which I refused to pay), and funnily enough, the card machine worked absolutely fine. A very unpleasant check-in experience, but I advise anyone to stand their ground if deciding to stay here, if you don't have cash - do not pay any extra for paying by credit card. My colleague heard guests arriving during the night, who were told they needed to pay by cash as the card machine was not working. A tax dodge maybe?! I had booked a twin room, but we were given a small room with a double bed and a rickety camp bed - obviously a family room, not a twin. I have been in bigger bathrooms in a caravan - ridiculously small, and put us off attempting to use the shower. There was no bedside table to put anything on and no bedside lamp. There was a tiny cabinet with two drawers for clothes storage - not a wardrobe or even a coat hook to hang anything. On the plus side, the bedding was clean and the loo/sink was clean. As we only needed the room to more or less sleep in, it was just about adequate for our purpose. Breakfast was very basic, but ok. Be warned, the reality of this place does not match the photos/description on the website! (97160965)

positive comments The location of the hotel was in a good location for where we needed to be for our conference. Breakfast was adequate.
negative comments Check-in - trying to rip people off by asking for cash, and adding an amount on for payment by credit card. A twin room was booked for 2 adults - were given a room with a double bed and a rickety, lumpy camp bed. Room/bathroom too small. (ALmost impossible to use the loo or sink with the door closed). Mirror in inconvenient place - had to clamber on the bed to use it. No wardrobe or even a coat hook to hang work clothes. No bedside table or lamp.
