Staff friendlyness made up for any small problems!

Staff were extremely freindly

Breakfast could have been available until 11am instead of 9:30am and portions were a little meager but adequate. When bed was made it was shaped liked a banana as duvet was tucked under mattress which made us laugh.

welcoming staff, quick service of breakfast and drinks, close to the race course for my balloon ride

Placed us next to a family with small children, baby was crying alot and we were unable to watch the television with enough sound as we did,t want to disturb the baby at night time, but on the plus side the staff was sorry and said unfortunely there was no where else to put us

This was well situated for exploring York...not too far from the city centre but far enough away to be quiet .The main road traffic was busy but did not disturb us.The views across to the race course were pleasant.Swimming pool very clean..water could have been a bit warmer though! We would go again.Meals excellent and staff very friendly and helpful.

lovely hotel but needed a bit more care and attention on cleaning in bedrooms, food excellent, really enjoyed stay, nobody pointed out that there was a thermestat on the wall for heating, room was cold but you just tweaked the dial and you got heat in the room only discovered it on last night, would stay there again though

Good basic acommodation. Possibly a bit far out of town for most people to walk but the bus was very handy. The room was very cosey and clean. Breakfast was very nice although 9.30am last orders was bit early for a Sunday morning. Overall very good value for money. We will use this hotel again.

Very happy-close to the venue I was visiting-an air of care about the place-really pleased with the food on offer, good car-parking facilities and easy to find. I'll come again

The room was very spacious and the bed really comfortable. A lovely large TV on the wall, saving space. There was a lot of choice for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Only a small point - the fact that the wash basin was in the bedroom, and not in the shower/toilet area itself. This made it slightly 'annoying', having to leave the shower/toilet to wash our hands, or clean our teeth.

only one complaint, the food (evening meal) was nice but not alot of choice
also the portions of food were very very small, ie,(one piece of brocolli and cauliflower, six slices carrots and a egg cup full of cabbage between two)£15 per head. The included breakfast was nice tho
really thats the only complaint, the food (quantity) was not good value for the money paid, it was cooked well tho
i would stop here again but would go out for evening lunch.

It was lovely traditional, homely, hotel. The room was very grand for the price we paid - generous size with a four poster bed!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in York and would not hesitate to recommend this accomodation to others.
(99798887)

I was quite pleasantly surprised to be allocated a room with a four poster bed. The accomodation was very easy to find with the directions given. It was very conveniently situated on a bus route into York which provided a bus every 10 minutes.

The room became very warm and stuffy and it wasn't very easy to open the sash windows. I didn't like the fact that I had to climb over the hoover on the way back to my room after breakfast on the morning of departure.

The room given for the second night was very nice and comfortable.

The room given on arrival was in the attic area and had no running hot water. We were unable to bath or shower.

the room was fairly basic but it was spotlessly clean

checkin staff were rather surly, the advertised pool was at the end of the garden which in the winter was not appealing, the bar did not have a wide range and the bar staff were more interested in getting finished early so they could go on a date

The hotel is in a wonderful location and we could see what a lovely building it had been. However, it has certainly seen better days. The paintwork was badly chipped as was some of the crockery and it just seemed as though there was very little care taken. The towels were hard and had seen a lot of use and little details such as tissues in the room were missing. It just had the feeling of that'll do.
(99715374)

The accommodation was reasonable as was it's location. The staff were helpful and friendly.

It has the potential to be a wonderful hotel, however, it is in desperate need of a refurbishment. Also although there were not many people staying we were very disappointed when returning to the hotel at 10:05pm to find the bar closed and no staff on duty.
