Pretty poor for £95 a night.
(107292115)

The main part of motel was fine and the receptionist helpful and attentive.

The Cottage where we stayed - Downstairs was adequate but there were only net curtains on the window. The sheets had an odd smell...
Breakfast the next morning was understaffed. One had to sit on group tables where plates had not been cleared. No glassed for fruit juice. English breakfast was served on cold plates so food was tepid on arrival. No milk on tables, no mustard, pepper etc.

At 75 Pounds a night B&B, poor value for money, very disappointed.
(107218776)

Handy, easy to find location. Pretty buildings and garden space.

I felt the room was dingy and although not dirty it was tired and in need of a complete renovation. Mattress 5 out of 10.

Clean and well kept

Office was locked on Sunday most of the day and night with no contact information left for guests.
David from Surbiton, GB (Solo business traveller) 08 May 2008
Would have rated hotel highly except for function room party noise all evening.
(97797640)

Room was clean and well decorated, the car park was large and the hotel grounds well kept and pleasant.

The rooms were too close to the hotel function room/hall. The 18th birthday party was door and window rattling LOUD all evening until about 11-11:30pm. No warning of party was given at booking or arrival at reception.

We had a pleasant stay and would not hesitate to stay again. Our room was warm and cosy. Good value and staff so willing to please in all respects.
Restaurant was excellent and good service.

Main problem is that the staff are under trained. There was no person in overall charge and front of house was poor

Rooms were quite good bed very comfortable

somewhat dated

The accomadation is set as a motel and although they took a booking for a Sunday nite in fact the hotel closes at 4pm on a Sunday. We were therefore the only guests in the hotel/motel with no staff, facilities and the keys were left in the door of the motel room in a court yard area straight from the main road. To add insult to injury they left a note on a large chalk board that the keys were in the door waiting for us. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and should someone have read the board they would have realised we were due to arrive later that night and could have been waiting for us, even in the room if so desired. The saftly aspect was appauling the Customer Service of the same standard and I feel that if the hotel is closed on a Sunday evening offering no services of any nature they should not take bookings. They also tried to charge us £80.00 for the room when in fact the booking stipulated £60.00

It would have been good to know what time breakfast was as we had to leave at 0800 Hrs, just as weekend breakfast was being served!

It was nice to arrive that everything was ready & clean, and helpful staff

we didn't get to stay longer

THE HOTEL WAS VERY WELL ORGANISED/SET OUT - BREAKFAST'S WERE VERY GOOD AND THE EVENING MEAL RESTUARANT WAS EXCELLENT - WHILST HAVING OUR BREAKFAST THE ROOM WAS TIDIED/BEDS MADE/BINS EMPTIED AND NEW REFRESHMENT'S (BOTTLED WATER/BISCUITS) REPLENISHED. GENERALLY A VERY NICE HOTEL - WE ENJOYED OUR STAY AND WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN - I WOULD RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND (I HAVE DONE THIS ALREADY) IT WAS NICE AND QUIET AND WELL SET OUT (ROOMS WERE VERY PRIVATE FROM ONE ANOTHER) - OURS DID NEED A BIT OF AN UPGRADE IE (BATHROOM, TILES ETC)- BUT A NOTE HAD BEENE LEFT TO SAY THAT REFURBISHMENT OF ROOMS WERE STARTING - ONCE THESE ARE COMPLETE IT WOULD BE NICE TO RETURN TO SEE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE - I AM GLAD I CHOOSE THIS HOTEL.

VERY NICE AREA - EASY TO FIND - VERY CENTRAL

NOTHING - IT WAS VERY NICE FOR WHAT WE WANTED, AS A BASE TO TRAVEL ROUND LOCALLY.

The hotel was very convenient for the main road to Norwich. The breakfast was superb. There was a nice family atmosphere in the hotel.
(99339888)

The room was spacious with bunk beds for the kids. There was a large bathroom.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 26 May 2007
The hotel was very welcoming as were the staff. It made for a relaxing stay and I just love the courtyard rooms type of accomodation. The bed was really comfortable and the grounds of the hotel were lovely to sit out in .
(99385874)

Although convenient for the A140 the hotel and grounds were a haven

Lack of choice of wine. Shower could have done with a bit more power (but only a minor criticism.
Anonymous (Solo business traveller) 22 May 2007
Staff very friendly, good food and beer. Next to busy A140 but access to and from hotel car park is still not too bad because of traffic lights, these give you a chance to get out onto main road.
Rooms are quite large with king size bed and a sofa. TV has 4 main channels with 2 freeview. Heating in room is good. lots of parking, never a problem.

hard to make a comment. shower was very good.

quality was below standard, bathroom door handle kept falling off, decor not too brilliant, not enough bed linen, room was situated opposit a static caravan, so i had to have curtains closed for most of the day, also, when the occupants arrived back at 1am, they woke me up and kept me a wake for over an hour

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was easily located on the A140 and in nice settings.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I highly recommend the hotel restaurant - the food was of very good quality, well presented and good portions. Good value for money too.
(99974115)

I liked how the hotel rooms were ground level apartments and the friendliness of the staff. Food was brilliant.

The room could've done with some updating/modernising.
Robert from Tonbridge, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 04 April 2007
we found the hotel easy to find, it had a pleasant and friendly atmosphere in the bar and restuarant.food was cooked until 9.00pm with a reasonably priced menu. A very good breakfast. The room was clean and tidy and spacious and pleasantly decorated. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

It was clean and roomy.

It was adequate but th heating was full on with additoinal heater which we had to switch off. The main door on room 7 was rattling had to jammmed it with a paper to stop the rattle.

Clean, modern facilities, helpful permanent staff and an excellent breakfast.

Inexperienced waitresses and slow service in the restaurant. Some disturbance in the room from the kithen porters going about their business.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 15 November 2006
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will certainly go back. More choice at breakfast would be nice e.g. other juice apart from orange and natural yogurt as well as fruit.
(3305471010)

Food was excellent and staff very friendly

Check-out process took ages with several strange entries on bill e.g. bar drinks were shown as breakfast.
Hotel was a little bit shabby in places eg fountain in courtyard, dust and cobwebs in room etc.
Benjamin from Southend, United Kingdom;GB (Young couple) 08 November 2006
The stay was as expected, however, I have had better accomodation for the money.

Charming and pleasant hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The meals were quite exceptionally good. We write this as a couple living near France and enjoying good food and wine. The restaurant is a credit to England and the chef, who is a Scot, is to be congratulated!
Only minor quibbles: a couple of extra towels in the bathroom would have been nice (though we did not ask for them and I am sure that if we had, we would have got them). A little more shower-gel/shampoo (especially since these are confiscated at UK airports) and perhaps in re-fillable dispensers rather than little bottles for environmental reasons (many hotels do this now - it also prevents guests from taking them away).

(3304661535)

It was a very nice place and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed because we were at a wedding reception which was excellent. The room where the reception was held was a lovely place and so much better than your usual bright lights and boring decor. We enjoyed it very much and the bar staff were much better than the standard we have been used to

The general up-keep of the grounds could have been improved, ie gardens/borders. Discarded glasses looked as though they had been in the fountain for a few days. Staff were very pleasant.

Almost all of the information I needed re travel - proximity to railway station etc. was given when I confirmed my booking. Perhaps a little information about the nearest shopping area would have been helpful and the nearest public transport to Diss. I travelled by rail and therefore did not have my own transport. I did see a local bus going into Diss itself from near the Brome Grange, so maybe information about the bus stops and a timetable would have been helpful. But that is a minor point. Had I really wanted to get to the shops I would have enquired from the staff at the hotel.
(3304523420)

Everything was excellent. Charming, welcoming staff. Absolutely no hassle at check-in. Everything was ready. The room was extremely comfortable, clean and the decor very well thought out. There were nine family members at the hotel (going to a wedding at the Cornwallis) and we were all highly satisfied.

See above.. Staff were brilliant and friendly.. The Honeymoon Suite.. Well worth the little extra..! Just fabulous all round.
(3304956831)

Honeymoon Suite - Brilliant Room.. Jacuzzi.. Twin Powershowers.. Four poster bed.. and most of the little extras you would expect.. and a few more you may not have.. (The complimentary champagne and chocolates were delicious!) Breakfast was splendid and if you enjoy seafood, then don't forget to have dinner as well!

Absolutely nothing that detracted from the evening.. although it would really have been even better if there were a DVD or CD player connected to the TV to play a bit of music.. maybe also air conditioning or a fan as it was a very hot evening and short of leaving the door and windows open it was hard to get the room to cool down.. and funnily enough.. there seemed to be a faint smell of glaziers putty in the air..?? That all said.. none of this detracted from a really wonderful stay.. :-)
