Overall enjoyed the stay, the rooms were clean, tidy and everthing was in working order. Had an excellent power shower and a good bathroom. Breakfast was lovely with alternative options. The only difficulty we had was that we were not able to check in before 14.30 which was a problem as we had a wedding at 15.00 when I asked if there was any possibilty of checking in slightly earlier or using a room to get changed in they could not provide this to us. staff on the whole were helpful and provided extra towels on request immediatley. We use this hotel fairly regularly when visiting our family. The accommodation block at the back is much better for us when we come because we can have some quietness. I HATE the smell of the smoke from the bar. (99862033)

We ate in the restuarant that adjoins the hotel. It was very nicely laid out and presented and obviusly very popular as it was fully booked on the night that we stayed.(It is open to all , not just hotel guests). (99568389)

It was modern, clean and quiet.

We asked for a no smoking room, which we got,(and it didn't smell of smoke) but the hall way outside smelt heavily of smoke and I think maybe we were in a no smoking room adjoining smoking ones.

Air con from overhead system [looks like retrofit] in public rooms (dining room and bars) very draughty and rather cold. We raised the point, but nothing could be done. (99027575)

The ambience, particularly as it was christmas, the lovely open fire, the towering christmas tree and incredibly polite and attentive staff both in the bar and on reception. There was a good choice of food and the quality and turnaround was fabulous.
