I am now retired but did run a company in King's Lynn for many years and have stayed at all the hotels in the area. The Dukes Head is great because it is so central for the town. If I was entertaining customers I usually stayed at the Knights Hill because it is better decorated, the rooms are a bit more up market and they have a night porter who serves drinks all night if necessary.

We only stayed one night at the hotel but were provided with everything we wanted at a very reasonable price. I was well received at reception on arrival, enjoyed cordial drinks at the bar before going out for an evening meal, good bedroom, good breakfast for £5 and a place to park your car.

The hotel is beginning to look a bit tired and could do with a facelift. The lift broke down in the morning. The barrier on the car park was missing.

The night porter was in attendance at half pass midnight, we did get a verbal apology from the reception

The bar had nothing to sell. This Hotel is tired. We have stayed at this Hotel several times in the last 35 years, it is now un acceptable, we will not stay there again.

Thank you very much for an excellent stay.

Very helpful and friendly staff. The room was good with a great view of the market place and the whole experience was really good - and excellent value for money.

The food at breakfast was very tasty, but unfortunately it was cold. The only other problem we was the long walk to our room - we are an elderly couple and not able to get around easily - I should have told you this on booking.

What a shame, the lovely dukes head hotel is going downhill, wish they could get some money to upgrade as we really like it there.

We enjoyed our stay in Kings Lynn. The hotel was in need of some TLC in some areas and there was a definite lack of staff at breakfast. Those on duty were worked off their feet and did a good job cosidering how busy it was at 9am.

We Thought the room was in need of redecoration. Wallpaper hanging off the wall was not what we would expect to see in this standard of hotel.

I booked two rooms for two of my work colleagues who were on a business trip. The ceiling was caving in in one of the rooms. The rooms were cold. One of my colleagues had no towels in the room. There was disorganisation at breakfast and one of the cereal bowls wasn't washed properly.

Leaking pipes in bathroom; extremely dated room; somewhat helpful but extremely young staff; ambience stark; general feeling of neglect in the hotel; housekeeping entered the room without knocking in the morning. I felt it was extremely poor value for money. As a frequent traveller in hotels, it was a real shock.

The staff were very helpful

The hotel in is need of refurbishment.
The bathroom was designed very poorly, i am not a tall person but i struggled to have a shower because of the ledge above it made it very difficult, as it left no room.

The accommodation was central to all the local shops etc. Some staff where friendly, if not to tired, from doing too many hours and then complaining about it.

The selection of non meat/fish meals where very limited. The selection for breakfast was not very good. Buffet style breakfast, meat and cheese on the same plate, when I spoke to a member of staff about, I got a grunt. The person serving the breakfast did the same servicing not meat foods with the same serving untenils as for the meat foods. The food was not hot either, some foods where not kept warm, for example the hash browns where not covered either.

the Kings Lynn F
estival was on and the night we stayed the band played extremely loud from early evening until 11.30. pm had we known this we would not have booked accommodation at this hotel.
We had to complain about one of our evening meals and the hotel manager reimbursed us for this.

crisp clean sheets

the decor was scruffy around the hotel apart from the entrance hall lounge and dining room

The staff were extremely helpful, very polite and couldn`t do enough to help. The atmosphere was very good everybody was smiling and enjoying themselves. The rooms were clean and well kept but were in slight need of redecoration. Considering the reason we were there the staff made our stay very comfartable.

Arriving for a family funeral there was a mix up with the reservation numbers. This was dealt with quickly by the desk staff. The hotel was clean, tidy and the food was excellent.

Wished we could have stayed longer!!!

We would have liked to stay in the old part of Hotel but due to my husband having MS and unable to manage the stairs and no lift access we had to go in to New Part of the Hotel/
(3304441790)

It was local to all amenities and Theatre . Staff were very helpful at all times

The room in the new part was on level 1 and was extemely noisey at night due to out side alley leading to local pub.
Mark from South Croydon, United Kingdom;GB (Solo leisure traveller) 02 May 2006
The hotel reception, lounge and the room for breakfast were very pleasant and well presented. The staff were friendly, and gave good service. The room I had had definitely seen better days and whilst clean, would definitely have benefitted from a visit by the decorators and some refurbishment. I arrived, late, but not overly so (2150), by which time, dinner was no longer available, and all of the hot items on the room service menu were also not available, so don't arrive too late if you want to eat! (However, the cold sandwiches were good)
(3304607154)

The public areas of the hotel were in very good order and pleasant. The breakfast was vey good.

The room was a bit faded. If it's not scheduled for the decorators to visit, then it should be!

Good hotel in centre of King's Lynn. Staff helpful and friendly.

General decoration walpaper etc. of our bedroom on the 4th. floor leaves a lot to be desired. Room and ensuite bathroom needs a thorough make-over. Furnishings and facilities of bedroom excellent.
Ben from Littlehampton, United Kingdom;GB (Solo leisure traveller) 01 September 2005
I was very impressed, originally it was meant to be an overnight stay for myself and my girlfriend, however she could not make it, but i still had an enjoyable time in Kings Lynn. The Staff were excellent and a joy to talk to, you have some great and loyal staff, look after them. You also have a great building look after it, when it needs a lick of paint, give it a lick of paint! Just one more thing, remember to cancel the delivery guys on a Bank Holiday some of us were woken by it!!!
(2641416)

The efficiency of the staff, the fact it was easy to find and the central location.

In places it could do with a lick of paint, my room (2nd floor) was fine but apparantly the 3rd floor smells of smoke!
Anonymous (Mature couple) 27 August 2005
The public rooms were attractive, and the welcome was warm and friendly, we were given early acess to our room because we needed to change for a wedding. Breakfast was good with staff being friendly and efficient, and the location was excellent. It was about what I expected as a traditional town centre hotel
(2586744)

It was a good sized room, comfortable bed, and quiet

The decor upstairs needs upgrading, our room was quite dreary, the bathroom while well fitted did not have adequate ventilation
