Hotel is being renovated but this did not detract from our stay.Lots of bars/eating places right outside. (107103729)

Very
nice recently renovated room. Air-con and large light
bathroom.
Secure carpark.

Good hotel, very clean with excellent rooms. (97105421)

The rooms have just been refurbished and are of an excellent standard. It's extremely good
value for money.

There is still some decorating work going on but it didn't effect us in the slightest. The biggest down side is the nightclub that is underneath, you need to have a room away from the
main road otherwise it's
noisy.

This hoel is really well situated in central Calais, it has good private off street patking which seemed pretty secure. The room we had was very spacious, we had a family room for 2 adults and 2 children and we had a room that was excellent - it was divided into two parts so the children had their own part with their own television which they thought was fantastic. We also had a lovely spacious bathroom which we could all fit in! (97081922)

Conversion to a Mercure is not complete. We had an old room, albeit at a reduced rate. Noisy, uncomfortable, old shower/plumbing, 1-star quality. I'm sure it will get better. (97200019)

convenient for the port, good
restaurant,
pleasant helpful staff

Below Mercure standard

Hotel was being overhauled but there was minimal disruption and was handled very well our room was a refurbished one and of a good standard

Compared to most of your hotels it was slightly over priced

It was
clean, well presented and
comfortable. The
food was very good and there was a good atmosphere.

There was not enough milk in the room to make a decent drink

It was
nice to walk into a warm room, comfy bed and
clean facilities
Not the easiest place to find as the sign was quite
small

After travelling for 2 months, in comparison with others expected a larger room for our money. Was adequate for our needs and location was great. (97225301)

Handy to station and
restaurants
Signage poor. Had trouble finding it. Receptionist not too welcoming but morning staff
great. Very
small room.

The room was very small for the price we paid, and very cold. (97598644)

convenience of
location
he room was
small, even though we paid a superior rate. There was no heating in the room so it was very cold, even though we were given a
small heater.

The hotel is undergoing redecoration and other work - I would like to have known this. The hotel should be fine when the work is complete so check before booking. (97991391)
Location was excellent. Staff were
friendly and
helpful
The hotels is a
little past it's best - it's age and decor is beginning to look shabby. There is work going on to improve which makes things worse. However this is not reflected in the price. I have stayed in much better appointed hotels for less.
Value for money was poor

Although the price was not expensive, my overall view of the facilities was not good. There are few hotels in Calais and it is crying out for one that stands out in quality. George V has the potential if only some money was spent on bringing it up to date. The location is excellent giving access to a number of good restaurants and the local township. (97818973)

The staff were
friendly and efficient and not served well by the
facilities on offer.

The hotel rooms were very dated and in need of modernisation. for example the
shower over the bath appeared to be held together by fresh air.
Lynn E from Cramlington Northumberland, GB (Mature couple) 24 July 2007
In dire need of the already planned renovation. Looked tired and a bit shabby, but very clean. Good secure car park, pleasant staff with a friendly helpful attitude. Breakfast needs upating along with the decor, poor choice and expensive compared to similar rated hotels. Would stay again despite comments and will be good to visit after the moderisation. GREAT LOCATION FOR AN OVERNIGHT STOPOVER....HOTEL IS SITUATED IN CENTRE OF TOWN, SO BARS AND RESTAURANTS ARE ON YOUR DOORSTEP....AND, OF COURSE, AFTER A NIGHT OUT, A SHORT STAGGER BACK TO THE HOTEL IS ALWAYS A BONUS.
MAIN ROAD CAN BE A BIT NOISEY FROM THE 'BOY RACERS' CRUSING AT NIGHT WITH STEREO'S BLARING AND NOISEY EXHAUSTS, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, A NICE, PLEASANT DAY.
HOTEL DOES LOOK A BIT TIRED, BUT CLEAN SHEETS, CLEAN TOWELS, HOT WATER (99288874)
GREAT LOCATION
POOR
PARKING
Daniel from Wickford, GB (Mature couple) 02 June 2007
The front of the hotel gives a very false impression. It looks like a small somewhat seedy place, whereas when you walk through the door you realise that is very wrong. It is a large, comfortable hotel. Our room was lovely... nice bed, large bathroom, piping hot water, very quiet too. Overall we had a very nice stay and would return if we were to visit Calais again. (99083956)

Large
comfortable room. Polite and
friendly staff.

Buffet
breakfast a
little dissapointing. Bacon and eggs not very
nice.
Sharon from Swanmore, GB (Mature couple) 09 May 2007
Overall this hotel offers really good value for money. We have stayed here twice and will do so again when we next come on an overnight stay as it is so central for shopping etc. The first time we stayed we used the restaurant but found it a little expensive so this time we just walked a few yards down the road to eat. (99690158)

value,

Self

food a

central, the car

This is not a dislike, but we feel that a seperate

nice.
