The hotel failed to live up to previous customer reviews. Next time I would avoid the web site add on, by contacting the hotel directly. (97375948)

positive comments Hotel was ideally situated and there was adequate off street parking. Furniture and decor were of a high standard.A very comfortable bed but a lighter duvet will be needed in warmer weather. An interesting church conversion.
negative comments Heating was off even though the temperature was low.It felt chilly throughout the hotel. Evening meal was special but the menu did not change during our four days. The meal was overpriced, poor quantity but excellent quality.

The hotel was easy to find in a central location within walking distance to the centre of Ballater. The hotel was renovated to a high standard and had a lovely seating / bar area. Our bedroom was very clean and had everything that you may need avaialble - tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water, hair-dryer and iron/ironing board. The bed was also very comfortable. There was a good choice available for breakfast but unfortunately due to the nature of our visit we did not have the opportunity to have dinner in the restaurant. We would recommend this hotel and hope to return for a further weekend break in the future. (99479465)

positive comments The hotel was lovely and the room was very clean and homely. The staff were all very pleasant and fiendly and there was lots of choice for a lovely breakfast.

This was ideal for a night away the location is perfect for exploring the area eg.Braemar,Ballater itself. I liked this converted church which had retained some of the original features yet been able to modernise bedrooms/lounge and restaurant. Our room was a decent size and had a brand new bathroom in it - the lounge restaurant are both also modernised and the food was of a high standard both for evening meal and breakfast thenext day where there was plenty choice and the food not greasy. Staff pleasant and friendly (99669574)

positive comments Very nice comfortable modern decor in lounge bar and upmarket restaurant which served nice food not too expensive

We stayed for one night in The Auld Kirk during our week-long trip through Scotland. This hotel was the best of all we visited in this week. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Food and drink, both breakfast, dinner and bar, are great, adequately stocked. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in or near Ballater. (99405628)

positive comments Very nice accomodation, with a very nice servicing and ambiance to the old church in which the hotel is stationed.

The website was very good and had all relevant information you would need. The hotel responded promptly with confirmation of our booking. It was a pity we had not got the chance to dine at the hotel in the evening, as the menu looked fantastic. We hope to visit the Auld Kirk again soon with friends to go walking in the area. I liked the fact that the church features have been kept ie. the windows in the rooms with the stained glass effect. The staff were pleasant without been intrusive and you were nor left waiting for long to be served food or drink even though they were busy, you were acknowledged in a friendly manner. (3305016284)

All details were as described on the site. The people were very friendly and most helpful. Food and service were first class. Our room lived up to expectation and the whole, brief visit was most enjoyable. We cannot find fault at all and certainly hope to return in the near future. (3304875988)

This hotel is very close to the centre of Ballater with lovely views of Craigendarroch Hill. The whole conversion from a church is tastefully and inoffensively done with the six bedrooms including original features, lovely carpets, wallpaper etc. The rooms only have showers as opposed to baths but the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean and quiet. The staff were very helpful about storing bikes etc (and the sign says they welcome cyclists - they do!)and were uniformly cheerful and pleasant throughout our stay. We ate one night in their own restaurant and although a little pricey (£21.00 for two courses)it was delicious with local products used throughout There is a very cosy back lounge with large sofas, books etc and a small bar which would be ideal on winter evenings. This is a great, very reasonably priced hotel and we are looking forward to going again. (2493871)

positive comments Beautiful and tasteful conversion of a church which retained many original features. Great restaurant.
negative comments Breakfast was a little bit limited although excellent choice of cooked breakfasts - could have done with more fruit and yoghurts for the weight conscious.

positive comments Very friendly staff. Dinner at the hotel was wonderful.
negative comments Parking at the hotel was available, but awkward because of the original nature of the building. However, on street parking was no trouble.

The food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was also good. It's unusual to get decent coffee. It was a cold day and the heating had been turned off in the bedroom/bathroom although they knew we were coming. (1692068)

positive comments Good sized shower room, two windows, generally comfortable
negative comments Only one problem - the shower in our room (1) got colder when you turned it towards hot and vice versa. A notice saying this would have been useful!!

Generally quite good. Difficult to judge on one night. first impressions were good, however, the bathroom needed upgraded and had no bath. Staff were excellent. Friendly and helpfull. Tarifs displayed in hotel were not fully displayed on the internet. E.G there is a dinner, bed & breakfast package available via the hotel. Only the room price was available on the net. I would go back and stay again. When I book again I will contact the hotel first for the best package. (1556266)

positive comments Quiet, peacefull and warm. Good breakfast althogh a bit greasy.
