Typical Thistle Hotel - the standard and facilities on offer were just as I expected. The hotel is located on St Chad's Queensway in the Centre of Birmingham. It is a 10 minute walk to the City Centre (Bull Ring) and New St Railway Station. I stayed at the hotel with my 8 year old grandson. Our intention was to visit Villa Park. We caught the No 7 bus from Upper Bull St which was a simple 5 minute walk from the hotel. The journey took about 15 minutes and the bus stopped right outside the stadium. The return journey took a little longer due to the football traffic. My only complaint is that my grandson used the TV remote control in the room and used it to check the pay to view TV movies without fully appreciating what this entailed. This resulted in me having to pay £6.95 for a movie (or service) we never used. So a word of caution - entering your Room No is viewed by management as entering into a contract. (99811510)

Clean and tidy with adequate facilities. Hotel ideally situated for city centre access.

Perhaps the directions to the hotel from the railway station could be better. Rather a long and convoluted way. Discovered another way which only took 10 minutes. However on saying tha tit is an easy hotel to find and the staff are all very friendly. Even discussed book choices at check-in desk. Excellent. (99859017)

THE BED MATTRESS WAS A LITTLE OLD AS THE SPRING MARKS ARE STILL IN MY BACK !

A relatively large room as single rooms go; excellent position (less than 5 minutes' walk to Snow Hill station).
