The helpfulness of Reception, Bar and Restaurant Staff. Also the room was comfortable and the value for money good, especially so close to London.

Breakfast - poor toaster - and only 1 selection of egg all week it was the same fried egg - no poached or scrambled. No skimmed milk available. Quality of food on menu in the evening can only be described as below what we expected.

Not sure if we would stay there again. It was convenient for our daughter's wedding, and the only local place available. The travel inn/lodge are far supier, and cost almost the same.We paid just under

Tatty but VERY clean. The staff seem to work hard.

Cracks in hand basin in bathroom...rusty looking plug hole.Very tatty carpet. At breakfast we noticed the eggs were very dry and rubbery looking, so asked for fresh ones. They arrived about 10 minutes later and were the same. Only one side of the toaster worked which delayed having it fresh and hot with the breakfast, as there were several people in the queue.By the time we got our toast our breakfast was cold.

A good budget hotel with an excellent restaurant. It was difficult to communicate with the staff as none seemed to have a good grasp of the English language but this was an inconvenience rather than a major problem.

The room was spacious and had a shower in the bath which was v useful.

Some of the room fixtures such as bedside lights were very old fashioned and indeed in need of replacement because of rust. Also the tv remote was already broken when we arrived (where the batteries are fitted) and should have been fixed prior to our arrival. The latter is only a minor issue.

The only information that might have been helpful is an idea of the recent developments at the hotel. A whole section of smoking rooms had just been converted to non smoking, although there was a shocking smell (shocking to a non smoker) and still ashtrays in the room. IN the end it was handled well by the staff.

We were upgraded to an executive room which was spacious.

We were intitially given a non smoking room that stank of cigarette smoke. We complained and were given an upgrade, although it took some arguing.

The hotel is ageing and quite quickly, some rooms have been refurbished to a decent standard, others are in need of work.
Management is friendly and appear to be trying to keep it going. Pricing reflects the standard and condition.
The hotel is basic but it fulfils its purpose.

2 members of staff in particular, Laura and Angela, are a real credit to this hotel. Both have a very friendly and endearing nature, and nothing is too much trouble for them. I stay in a lot of hotels in my line of work and it is so refreshing to be treated so nicely as an individual, rather than receiving a pasted on smile and the usual stock standard 'customer service' patter. These 2 ladies should be recognised as the best in the business and rewarded accordingly.

Like being in countryside but only 5 min walk to the town

Being on the front with a busy road it was a bit noisy but did not spoil our stay

There was no milk with tea making stuff and there wasn't a room service menu.Where exactly it was - I had to Google for directions.
