Very clean and friendly. Good central location. (97115126)

Looks as though it has been recently refurbished.

Furnishings a bit 'old-fashioned'.

Hotel was convenient location and reasonable accomodattion; staff addressed the normal things they were comfortable doing, but made no effort to resolve the parking issue. Parking cost undermined the good value of the hotel price. (97232724)

parking provided by hotel; closest available
parking was at car park about 5 min away. Cost of
parking was 18 pounds per 24 hour period. Hotel claimed an arrangement for 20% discount (they punch a
parking voucher in the hotel office with a machine provided by the car park company which is supposed to reduce the fee when checking out of the
parking lot). The system didn't work; had to pay full
parking fee. Hotel made no effort to resolve the problem; no attendants on duty at the
parking deck when we checked out so no opportunity to resolve the issue.

area of town that is under construction--

front of hotel entrance in long term project that will take several years to complete. Neither the directions at booking nor hotel staff (when called them on phone) made any mention of this issue. This was a difficult problem when arriving at night as we did.

Good
location.
Clean room.
Value for money.

Construction in
front of the hotel (actually on the whole
street), but it isn't a problem if you wake up early.

helpful with needing to keep luggage in hotel before/after checkin/checkout.

Minor issues with the

The room was a bit small and the decor average. Nevertheless, good value for money. (97779423)

Hotel is great value for the price considering the location. Room was basic, breakfast was ok but didn't expect anything more because of cheap price. All staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back. (99458062)

we enjoyed our stay, the comment I have made are only minor and overall the hotel was good value and as I said a good central location. It is a pity for the hotel that there are some closed down shops at the side, hopefully this will improve. (99139598)

The
central location. Excellent
bus service from
airport.Good size fairly quiet room.
Clean facilities,
breakfast staff worked very hard.

It needed a
little bit of DIY. The floor boards were really squeeky, the tap in the sink was nearly falling off , dreadful coffee

Clean, cheap, perfectly acceptable

Limited
breakfast options o/a circumstances beyond the hotel's control (what were these?) - so I had toast only for
breakfast.
Hotel smelt of cigarettes

The location is a real asset, being so close to the city centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really substantial and the breakfast room was a very pleasant room. There was no restaurant but that was not a problem to us as the hotel has plenty of restaurants nearby. The only criticism would be the fact we had no wardrobe, only a small hanging space for our clothes. Luckily we were only there for the one night so we did not have much luggage with us. (3304368089)

The
location was excellent, being at the end of princess
street,so it was just minutes to the shops and restaurants.

We had no wardrobe in our rooom which surprised me.
Victoria from Bury, United Kingdom;GB (Same sex couple) 28 February 2006
the reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was quite small, but adequate for our needs as we were only there to sleep. Breakfast was good (apart from powdery scrambled eggs!)This hotel is definetly for those travelling by public transport as there is no parking nearby and what there is would cost you (3304173936)

it was
central to the
city, but was not above bars/clubs
ANNE from Cheltenham, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 12 February 2006
the hotel was very easy to get to on the bus route from the airport, and in a very central location. We were able to leave luggage there until check in time and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and a decent size with a lovely bathroom and good shower. There were only two pillows on a double bed ,we could have done with two each especially to watch television and there was no remote control for tv.Overall we thought it was a very good value for money and would recommend it to others. In general the hotel fullfilled a purpose of cheap accomodiation close to Edinburgh's main attractions, however a few alterations would make all the difference and ensure a more pleasing stay. (3304086759)

The
location of the hotel was excellant. The
service received from the staff was good, however their appearance was far from professional.
Clean bed linen (throws badly stained and had hair, crumbs etc on them) would improve appearance of bedrooms. A standard uniform or dress code for staff would assist as there were waitresses serving food with hair hanging, not very hygenic! Also staff at receiption were not presenting the hotel in the best light as they looked like students who had just walked through the
door.

The hotel was very handy to find the bus from the airport dropped off and picked up right outside. Princes Street was literally just at the corner and the breakfast the next morning was lovely. They also provdied a room for left luggage which was great as i arrived before my book in time and my flight was much later than my booking out time. The only slight hesitation was that the hotel did not look much like the picture provided, although it was nice. (2809875)

The staff were
friendly, and they provided a room for leaving luggage which was brilliant
Peter from Uppsala, Sweden;SE (Solo business traveller) 06 October 2005
Great central location for vacation if you only wish to walk around central Edinburgh. The lack of parking or off-loading space immediately outside the hotel however is a major disadvantage. (2807933)

central location
Busy

parking zone-
outside the

outside your

The Clarendon Hotel is in a fantastic location and very good for the price. It was clean and the staff were polite. The full breakfast did not really fill us up but maybe we are just greedy as there was quite a good selection and plenty of toast! The room was clean and the towels were changed daily but we found our blankets a little old and grubby and just used the sheets. I am sure that the staff would have changed them had we asked but a blanket was not necessary in our case. I enjoyed the stay in Edinburgh and the Clarendon was in a fantastic location for Princes St and shopping and the castle. We did not use public transport once as everything was within walking distance. I would also recommend the Haunted Underground Tours from Mercat - spooky! (2681156)

The
location of the hotel was excellent and we didnt use public transport once due to this. The room was as described and what you can expect from a hotel of this
price. There was a locked room where we could leave cases on the day of departure at no extra charge which helped.

The
breakfast was a
little sparse for us, although what we had was
nice. The blankets were also a
little old and could do with some updating. Generally
clean though and polite staff.
