I think that the offer of the reduced breakfast point was to appease people due to the fact that the lifts were'nt working & maybethis should be brought in for people staying for more than one night. (97714149)
Clean room,good cleanliness throughout,
helpful staff &excellent
location.

Only staff lift available for use,no running wateron the Saturday until the evening time.

Adequate for our stay, which was overnight. Appreciate that work is going on in the hotel and I would like to review again when the refurbishment is complete. (108084432)

Hotel staff were very
friendly and
helpful.
Reception and
Bar area was welcoming. Very good,
central location.

The hotel is being refurbished and the budget room we were allocated was in need of update. The furniture had seen better days and the bed was uncomfortable. We also had an extractor fan which automatically switched on and off every half an hour throughout the night. There was a wide variety of
food to choose from at
Breakfast, but if you chose to eat a cooked
breakfast, the ingredients were
cold.
Sara from Lucan, IE (Family with young children) 30 August 2008
its a very plasant hotel, if only the hotel lived up to the standards of the service. the only thing that let us down was the hotel ... not the staff in it. they should definatly see that the lift were fixed and think about having smoking rooms with windows. then i would stay again. (107214223)

the
service was very good. staff were
friendly and
helpful. it was very
clean and room
service was very quick. very
pleasant.

no
window in a smoking room so the room was very very stuffy and
hot which made it hard to sleep. elevator not
working..not happy dragging suitcase up tro the 4th floor. and the
breakfast was not
nice. we paid for
breakfast for 2 days but after the first moring never went back.

Have stayed in better hotels in same price-range, within central Manchester. But stay was not unpleasant in any way. (99761990)

Staff helpfullness and
location.

Interior and rooms was very
dated, and
bath room and
air-
conditioning needed up-dating.

The fact that we were placed in smoking rooms spoilt the stay, and the lack of respect for our wishes was inexcusable. (108085997)

The
reception area was open and
friendly and the duty manager tried to be
helpful with my complaint.

we were not offered a non-smoking room and this caused a
great deal of distress. smoking rooms were not advertised and the hotel gave the impression it was non smoking when we asked for a an upgrade/refund we were told that we could only be upgraded at 3pm Whilst we were attending a function. This was not asatisfactory and we requested a refund. We were then fobbed off with promises that the General Manager would see us. The General manager was in fact absent from the office on the day we checked out.

To start with things seemed lovely, nice big clean entrance, friendly welcome, let us check in early, then it all went down hill, no lifts working, had to use dirty grotty staff areas, the room was shabby, but would do, but glad I didn’t pay full price, had a lovely evening at a concert, to come back and have our night ruined by too much noise so much so the floor was vibrating 2 floors up, no working TV to try and drown the noise out, ignorance, rudeness from staff and no food available like advertised. But, thankfully when we complained AGAIN face to face this time at front desk the manager came, swapped our room to the 6th floor, promised the party would end soon (which it didn’t) and music be turned down (which it wasn’t) and also asked the restaurant to prepare some food for us to take to our room, which was very nice, very tasty. He was very pleasant and understanding, and the room we were given was 10 times better than the one we were in originally. If I went to Manchester again I would consider this hotel but I would ask for the exact same room on the 6th floor. And would never pay full price for it, this hotel is not, in my opinion and experience a 4 star. (97488742)

Entrance and greeting, good,
friendly, baggage store good,
food from restaurant tasty.

We were given a room on the 3rd floor, this room had an
old dingy
bathroom, mucky
windows, a TV that didn’t work, with a remote that didn’t work,
air condition vent in roof that hissed so loud we had to block it up, and there was a wedding that went on until 1.30am and the music was SO LOUD it made the floor vibrate on the THIRD floor, and the wedding was on the FIRST floor. Rude staff when we complained over the phone, no all night room
service as advertised and finally most of the staff in general did not seem to know what was going on, or what to do. Plus we got interrogated by the security guard for entering our hotel.

The stay was pure convinience and the overall room was poor! (97676609)

Convenient

The bed was very unconfortable! it has given my husband a bad back
The room was very shabby and
decor and
facilities appeared to be untouched and cared for due to mould found in the
bathroom and on chairs within the room.

Hotel was ok for the £45 cost. The rooms are a little dated, but clean an pleasant enough for an overnight stay. Staff were very unhelpful when it came to ordering room service - which you have to pay an extra £3 for on every order!! Location was excellent - which is the main reason why we would consider staying there again. (97609711)

Appreciated, the hotel is in the centre of Manchester and there is a premium for that, but I don't think that the price charged for this room is justified given the overall state of the room (certainly the room we had). The room was clean but was badly in need of modernisation. Not really what I expected for the price paid. (3304732409)

Customers with room only bookings should be made awrare that they will be charged for a full continental breakfast at £10.95p even if they don't eat much. (3304301739)

Apart from the furniture being old they were a few things that I was unhappy about. in the night a leak from upstairs was coming through into the room which kept me and my partner awake for some time. And the shower was a dribble which went from being hot to cold every few minutes. (3304164135)

nothing.

Room without a view. I won't be staying here again unless I have a guarantee, with photographic evidence, that my room has a window - not something you usually worry about asking when you book a hotel. I tended to think that windows came as standard... well I wont be making that mistake again! One of the worst, most claustraphobic night's sleep I've ever had. (3304138696)

The very
helpful considerate waiter/manager in the restaurant who arranged a main meal version of a starter for me, and made sure that my wheat allergy was accounted for.
