I only stayed one night and didn't get to see what the rest of the hotel looked like. I'm sure there is a good friendly atmosphere there. The room I had was very old fashioned though and a bit gloomy - I'm not sure I would like to stay at that particular hotel for more than one night. It's also a bit of a taxi ride from the city centre, so the price of the room (to me) was quite high, bearing in mind what I've paid at more modern hotels in more convenient locations

Room size great, bed comfortable. Breakfast good.

Shower not very good - couldn't move shower head, ceiling above shower could have been cleaner.

GREAT! i had a very pleasant stay, and i'd definitely recommend this hotel to my friends!
(97194085)

The room was big, spacious and well decorated. The mattresses used were good and firm. Very helpful and friendly hotel staff indeed. The breakfast was deliciously sumptious...and as claimed, the view from the hotel room was gorgeous.

No air cond...not that we needed it anyway since it was pretty cooling when we went.

The atmosphere was very nice and it was quite easy to approach to/from city centre.

The service was very good! Staffs were very kind and friendly so that all of our family were very satisfied.
Thurman from Severna Park, US (Family with young children) 12 May 2008
We could not get out of there fast enough. Overall, it was completely disappointing. Because we were a party of 5, with two rooms booked and small children, we were treated as if we were a bother. The woman at the front desk was kind and fair, but it was her first day at that facility- so she didn't have the layout of the hotel when she placed us in two rooms at opposing ends of the building. We did get quick service with our request for an extra blanket and pillow. Still, I will never stay there again nor will I recommend it.
(97878599)

It looked like a castle on-line. I thought that my kids would love it!

The rooms were not hotel clean. It made me feel less safe- though it was probably fine. The rooms were outdated, TV did not have more than 2 working channels, there were no cots for children. (I didn't notice before the booking- but it was on the confirmation that cots were not available.) Breakfast was disappointing. They wouldn't accomodate 5 of us at one table, so we had to separate. There were no clean plates, limited food ready at the buffet and the waitress seemed overwhelmed with her duties.

Certainly one of our best hotel experiences, exceeded all expectations, welcoming and highly professional staff impossible to fault our visit particularly given the competitive room rate.

The purpose of our visit was a concert at the Murrayfield Stadium, although we were not too far away this info would have been useful as I am sure a lot of people would be tempted to use the hotel if they had that info before booking. All in all it is a very pleasant place to stay and ideal for easy access from the major routes and set in a very nice location
(97519964)

staff very friendly and helpful, hotel well situated, lovely view(if it hadnt been raining) Ideally situated for easy access to city centre

nothing, apart from the weather
David from sidcup, GB (Mature couple) 17 July 2007
A good location and staff in general were very good and helpful but seemed more concerned with the tour groups of US and Japanese visitors than a middle-aged English couple travelling alone. The hotel is a little jaded, and noisy at night, some very strange noises, which sounded like luggage being bumpeed up and down stairs. No lift, so avoid third floor if you can't walk too much. Breakfast unimpressive unless asked for something apart from the big dried outfry up, in which case very good. All in all not a bad three night stay, but felt we were only there to make up the numbers and not as valued as the large touring parties.
(97763678)

Good location, reasonable staff

Shabby room, two nights there was no milk left so had to ask reception for milk to use tea/coffee facilities in room, staff seemed very confused when we asked for scrambled egg and kippers on same plate.

the room was more than adequate for my wife & myself, the hotel was easy to find clean and staff were mostly helpful & pleasent.

I probably would have preferred a room with a view as our room was looking into part of the hotel and the rear car park.

Check in procedure is very bad. I had to wait in the hotel lounge along with my wife and crying baby to get into the room .The behaviour of reception staff was not satisfactory.
Anonymous (Solo business traveller) 17 April 2006
Parking restricted; front door not obvious. Restaurant very disappointing - a la carte only, poor choice on menu, expensive for 'hotel' quality food (overcooked vegetables and small portions). Had the dining room to myself for dinner - lovely views out of windows but I was stuck beside a wall! Service in hotel lacked the 'personal' touch.... name only used by reception staff. Foreign dining staff lacked confidence in English and overly serious.
(3304514702)

The view over Edinburgh from the room was fantastic, could not ask for a better view of the city actually.

Bed uncomfortable, hardly slept. Room cold and draughty. Room had not been properly cleaned before occupancy.

Helpful staff giving good advices for instance parking places in the center of the city, easy-going atmosphere, quite far from the city but well situated along a main road with good buss-axess, good quality restaurants with also smaller meals and snacks available (bistro). Suitable also for families coming by car.
(3304179984)

Good atmosphere, nice wiev from the windows, easy to come by car when situated on the edge of the city along one of the main roads, with also good buss-connection to the city-centre

I would have liked to have been able to Phone the hotel pior to booking on the internet but I could not find a Number until I had completed my booking. Also the hotel was futher out of the city than I expected and although this was no problem I would have liked to have seen the location on a map or plan before finally booking. Apart for these minor things the hotel was excellent in every aspect particularly the breakfast.
(3304178474)

All aspects of our stay were comfortable. The room was very nice and the staff pleasant and friendly.
Alistair from Dundee, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 17 November 2005
We were in room 106 ground floor and access to this room appeared to be through a function suite. Due to functions in this suite we had to go upstairs and then down stairs to access our room - not the most suitable of arrangements for luggage etc (albeit a porter was avaiable). On a more personal note I was disappointed at the lack of local knowledge of reception staff re local golf courses but to be fair a copy of a local map was eventually produced. All in all had a very comfortable and enjoyable 3 night stay.

My wife and I were allocated a family room and we had plenty of space. Very clean & tidy. Pleasant location & easy access to the city. Lovely views from Dining Room. All staff were very pleasant.

Has we were only doing an overnight stay, to see the Military Tattoo, the only part of the hotel we experienced was checkin, the room, the bar/lounge and the breakfast. The breakfast was very nice, there was various options and what we had was excellent.

For the money we paid for an overnight stay (bed & breakfast) I was disappointed with the standard of decor of the hotel. Very drab & shoddy decor in the bedroom/shower room and very plain & boring in the bar/lounge.

The location was excellent, just outside the city but not too far out. The room was good value because of the online booking we saved about 30%. Breakfast was very good too, food was good, restaurant was clean, staff were helpful and friendly.

No lift and sleeping on the third floor was a hike after a day long walking the steps and hills of Edinburgh. The shower was very weak, and the television was half hidden behind one of the beds.
Anonymous (Solo leisure traveller) 20 April 2005
The hotel is a distance away from the city centre but on an excellent bus route. The bistro next door offers informal dining and is excellent value. It is worth checking whether the hotel will be hosting a wedding at the weekend as this did make a pleasant hotel a little noisy. The staff were very polite and extremely pleasant. My room was rather boring with a poor view.
