Overall we enjoyed our stay
(108003302)

Good size room, breakfast good, system for key drop-off and collection goo. Staff polite and friendly

Corridors very tatty, carpet in dining room also tatty. In bathroom the shower was hard to get a good flow of medium hot water and there was nothing to hold onto when getting out of the bath - very difficult for more elderly people.

Cleanliness, quiet. courteous staff, excellent range of food at the breakfast bar. room service handled quickly and very pleasantly

not happy about having to pay extra per item on room service when prices were already 40% above pub rates

There was a wedding reception on the night I stayed and so it was very noisy in the bar area and there was a problem with parking, but the staff were very helpful and my room was away from all the action so nice and quiet.

Friendly and helpful staff, wonderful building.

My bedroom was cold and I couldn't find the TV remote - not that this was a great problem as I didn't want to watch TV, but I did notice that it wasn't there.

It has been quite some time since i last seen carpets in a bathroom! A throw back to my grans era! The foyer was very grand and impressive, but the hotel needed to be brought up to date through-out badly! I noted many older guests during my stay. This im assuming more to their tastes and a throw back to their youth. Good location, close to the centre in a lovely part of town with a large car park. The Cairns is a lovely old building that could, giving a complete refurbishment be a first class hotel for both young and old. I hope this will happen in the near future as i would not hesitate to stay there again. The lack of a lift in such a large building really needs to be addressed as carrying heavy luggage up several flights of stairs is no laughing matter. All in all an adequate hotel that could be turned into a great hotel with time and money spent on it.

Quiet and close to the centre. In a very nice part of town.

The hotel is in need of refurbishment through-out. A lovely old building but with tired decor inside. needs a complete make-over to bring it up to what could be a first class hotel.

Before booking this hotel i would have liked to be informed that the lift was out of order - or even just an email to inform us after we had booked. We were travelling with our aunt and uncle who find it difficult to climb stairs due to health reasons and they were staying on the 3rd floor. Overall though, I was impressed by the lobby and the general decoration of the hotel. The room was lovely and the staff were helpful.

THe room was really nice - lovely bathroom and lots of mirrors - great for getting ready to go out!

The door to the room didn't have a safety lock from the inside. It did lock but there wasn't an extra lock inside for piece of mind!

We felt that this hotel was in need of some serious renovation.

Large room (number 357), but decor seemed tired

No lift. We were on the third floor!

Bright airy room, nice big windows

Hot water wasn't very hot, curtains could have been a better fit as bright light came into room too early!

clean and to a good standard

only one window that opened and in a very poor state.the car park had a great big tent in it and the parking was a nightmare.

The hotel was very easy to find. It is aituated within a short walking distance to the Town centre. Plenty of car parking space available in the hotel car park. Staff were very friendly. The room was huge, nicely decorated with a large en-suite bathroom. Breakfast was busy but the service was excellent and there was plenty of food available for those with good appetites. Excellent value for money at

Comfortable walking distance from the Convention Centre. Plenty of parking space immediately in front of the hotel. Our room was one floor above the restaurant area and it was very peaceful. Our group needed to eat the evening meals slightly earlier than the published opening times, the hotel were very flexible and opened the restaurant earlier for us. I look forward to staying here again in 2008.

We enjoyed are stay at the hotel. The wife was pleasantly supprised at how much it cost, and thought it a very reasonable nights stay, and would consider another stay another time.

Overall we were very pleased with the whole package,we could not find any faults with our stay.

I dont think there was anything really, but we did not use the facilities to its full potential in such a short space of time to improve on.
