It's cheap, its close to the Brighton Pier, and evocative of what Brighton might have been like in the early part of the 20th Century. Although very run down, it's kind of an experience if you've got a large group.

Labarinth like corridors can get you lost, and everywhere you look there is an eclectic and tired cacophony of decor that has long since passed its use by date.

Ok, but a few annoying things about the room.
(108080972)

Excellent position in Brighton.

A blanket on the bed looked like it belonged in a dogs bed. The window would not stay open. The cold tap on the spa bath was very difficult to use.

The toilet cistern was broken for the stay, it hissed incessantly. The room was clean and tidy but very small, in complete contradiction to the marketing information for the hotel which made a big deal out of the size of the rooms.
The buffet breakfast was fine, although the failure to adequately control the flow of guests made it resemble a salvation army soup kitchen. In addition, on the plus side the plates were warmed but the down side to this was that they were heated to such an extent that asbestos coated gloves were required to hold the plates for more than a few seconds to avoid losing layers of skin.

Excellent location

Size and condition of the room

Disappointing for the star rating claimed and price. Great location and views but the hotel is in dire need of refurbishment if our room is anything to go by.
(97601711)

The view and location.

The room was shabby with a large hole in the middle of the headboard, veneer on the wardrobe doors and table was badly split and peeling, bathroom was similarly poorly maintained. However, the trouser-press was hung at a pleasingly jaunty angle; it`s good to know that the Great British workman has discarded his spirit level in favour of eccentricity.

It had a lovely jacuzzi bath which made up for the poor window view.

The room was so hot and the air conditioner did not seem to work and there was only a view of a fire escape from the window.

Location.

Our room was directly above a night club, Friday night quiet after 11.00pm but Sat. was impossible. Also, windows not double glazed so traffic noise etc a bit much, also draughty.

Night time staff unsure about parking requirements outside of the hotel, which meant a needless trip over to the pier car parking facilities.

The jacuzzi bath

The hotel looked a little 'tired'. The windows would benefit from cleaning particularly on the sea view rooms and in the lounge

The hotel in itself is very clean and presentable and the staff very personable

Having stayed at this hotel on numerours occasions I was very disapointed with the room we were allcoated , the decor was fairly grubby and the bathroom needed a complete overhaul, and the window's needed a clean. This room was not upto or anywhere near the standard some of the room, I have stayed in, in the past (but I was to tired to complain)
lorraine from Woodford Green, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 20 October 2006
The pictures of the hotel rooms was not true to life.. I was so disapointed.....over priced
(99041613)

I never saw much of the hotel, but seem to be in good enough dec order

the room we stayed in was poor, the windows had some kind of secondry glazing. it was very hot and we could not open them. nothing matched. ther cutains was terrible, it needed money spent on it. looked like no money had been spent on dec for many years, the veiw from the window would have been fantastic, if the window had been replaced with some proper glass... would not stay again,,, and thought value for money was poor.

Very disappointed. Just because the hotel is in a good location doesnt mean you should sacrifice anything. That is arrogant. When it is 30 degrees you should be able to open a window in your room to cool down. Working in the travel industry I may hold higher expectations than most, but this hotel was really poor. I will not recommend your hotel to anyone.

Nothing apart from the Seaview.

The heat, no fan or air con and couldnt open windows. The lift didnt work and we were on the top floor. The seagulls waking us up at 6am and couldnt open window to scare them off. Requested Jacuzzi bath, didnt get it. Room wasnt ready when we arrived after 3pm.

the view

the lack of air movement in the room, windows screwed shut, very hot and stuffy. The taps were screwed shut obviously because they leaked. no hot water in the morning due to this, no answer from reception about any maintenance, no tissues they hadnt been replaced, no toilet paper on the roll, grubby bath and head board on bed was falling apart, and ripped.
Anonymous (Young couple) 02 June 2006
Good, value for money. Only thing that was slightly disappointing was the price of parking, as there was no hotel parking facilities.

This hotel was clean and well run. The staff were helpful and polite. The room was as we requested although our double bed was two singles placed together (but we had been advised of this prior to booking). The room service was fast and efficient. I would recommend this hotel.

Seaview room a must. Fantastic view. It was good, central and a good base for checking out Brighton. Air-con did not work tho. In summer may be a problem. Would stay again.
(3304435948)

Brighton feel to it, fantastic view. jacuzzi was a laugh. Very central location. Hotel looked better than most others on seafront

Maybe redecoration in some areas. This practice of putting 2 beds together for doubles needs looking at, end up down the middle

Our room was in need of up-dating, and the bathroom window leaked. It would though be a lovely room if refurbished as it had a lovely sea view, with a great aspect of Brighton seafront and pier. It is also a great base for the shops, bars and restaurants and especially the Laines. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially in the bar area. The breakfast was very average with limited choice. We did enjoy our weekend ,and would like to come again, but feel certain things need to be improved in the hotel.
(2739079)

Hotel is in great position for shopping and the Laines. A vast selection of restaurants and bars are within walking distance. The view of the seafront and pier is fantastic.

The room we stayed was very tired and needed up-dating. The bath/shower and bathroom was very clean and quite new, but the rest of the room was in need of referbishment. The bathroom window leaked, and the room smelt a bit damp.

Upon booking the accommodation, a room with a jacuzzi was requested. On arrival, it was not recorded, and alternative arrangements had to then be carried out.
The room smelt slightly mouldy as there was a leak (from the bath) which made the carpet in front of the bathroom wet and smelly.
Windows could not be opened efficiently for fresh sea air.
Fire alarms went off twice during our stay, one of which was at 6am on monday morning.
Otherwise it was fair accommodation for a 3 star hotel.
I would recommend the hotel for its excellent location and friendly staff.

Clean, orderly room. Jacuzzi bath.

Glasses for juice used for breakfast were dirty, with lipstick and lip marks still imprinted from previous guests.
