We both enjoyed the stay and felt we like to visit again but next time make it longer, and I was pleased to here from the reception desk that if I wanted the same room I could request it at the time of booking (97839915)

positive comments It was very clean and tidy and for the first time we were taken to our room this I thought was a personal tough and made us welcome
negative comments I had a problem using the taps in the Bathroom I felt there should have been some thing like a visual aid

The Kings Head is an old coaching inn that is ideally situated for exploring the Norfolk/Suffolk border and surrounding broads. Its position in the centre of Beccles makes it easy to find but parking is a little limited. Access to the top floor could be regarded as 'challenging' for anyone over six feet tall - which neither of us are so we weren't at all upset by it. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area. On the whole a thoroughly enjoyable experience! (97294818)

positive comments Location
negative comments Smell of cigarette smoke in the cooridor outside our room on the last night (reported to staff the following morning)

Generally very pleasant stay and close to other amenities. The staff were efficient and friendly. We did not have an evening meal so we cannot comment on this but there was a good choice of breakfast, well cooked and served with a smile. (3304954521)

Apart from the noise levels we had no complaint, I would recomend the hotel on the proviso that we had a quiet room. (3304893760)

positive comments Good clean and functional room. Good Food
negative comments The noise levels were high on all three nights, Friday with the rowdies, Sat with the singing after a late birthday bash Sunday delivery vans both early hours 12.30am 4am and 7am

The Hotel stands in a Market square and is truly the Heart of the community. The Bedrooms have been recently re-furbished, (you won't find any stained carpets, mildewed shower curtains or tired furnishings in these Bedrooms. The Restaurant serves a more than adequate selection of fine foods all very keenly priced with no compromise on quality. The Staff were responsive, welcoming and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated as the ''first customers of the day'' even though we arrived at 19.00 hrs. We will definately use this hotel again!! Although I am loathed to reccomend this hotel to others as I want to keep this gem stone for myself!! (3304899849)

positive comments Central Village location. Guest parking, restaurant, good beers, and great staff.

I booked a smoking room which you kindly confirmed. There are no smoking rooms at the Kings Head. (3304471557)

positive comments The multiple Ghosts - I am not religious and do not believe in any after life whatsoever. The experience was therefore absolutely fascinating but in no way threatening.
negative comments A smoking lounge other than the Public Bar.

Hotel is good and the area is lovely. Unfortunately the town square location means we were woken several times during the night when delivery drivers arrived and unloaded. If you are looking for a peaceful nights sleep look else where. (3304201768)

positive comments very nice new room
negative comments The breakfast menu showed that there would be a good selection of cold food on the buffet but it was very limited. They need to look at their morning service.

I feel that a restaurant should have waiters service, although the food was good, Ordering food from the bar is fine for a ploughman's lunch. Our stay was only marred by the dining experience. (2959926)

positive comments Clean, Comfortable, well presented.
negative comments It would have been nice to see a real log fire, even an artificial one would have given the place a more welcoming feel. Restaurant was not A'la carte.
Excellent
Sophie from Highgate, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 30 November 2005

The hotel was excellent, and the staff friendly and efficient. Bearing in mind that the accommodation is over a pub, we expected it to be noisy. In fact, we couldn't hear anything from our room, from which we had a pleasant view over the market square. (3003887)

positive comments Good location, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, good food, clean room

Rowland C G from Spalding, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 24 September 2005

We would have liked to be informed that there was so much work being done. If we had known that it would be a building site we would not have booked. As for the breakfast the standard for this was very poor, the scrambled eggs were like rubber and was un eatable. (2740948)

positive comments The Room
negative comments While we understand you were in the middle of refurnishing the hotel. The room was very cod and the heating was not working.

Knowing the area and the hotel from my childhood I was pleased to stay in the heart of Beccles. However, the experience was marred by the dirtiness of the hotel and general disrepair of furnishings anf fittings. Whilst I only just begrudged the £50 cost that I got through booking on the Internet, £70 would have been overpriced. (2561889)

positive comments The location is delightful and the exteria of the the hotel charming. Our welcome was pleasant with provision made for our tandem!
negative comments Whilst I understand that the hotel is embarking on major refurbishments, the delapidation of the building is no excuse for the dirtiness of the entire building. Our room was adequate, whereas the commnunal areas (particularly the dining room) were visibly dirty and certain areas had clearly not been cleaned thoroughly for some time. There was also a nasty smell in the dining room. This made dining at the hotel an altogether unpleasant and worrying experience.

OK but would not have stayed if we had been informed of the works & also the building was like a warren upstairs, I was afraid that a fire would break out Staff were helpful & pleasant but slow service (2383604)

positive comments Cannot fully judge as the whole building was undergoing refurbishment

The hotel is central in Beccles, easy to fnd but limited parking.Short walk to the waterfront. Interesting local history. Full range of shops and eating places.Close to beautiful, unspoilt coastline apart from the power station ! Staff were very professional, helpful and informative. (2445873)

Access to bedrooms - lack of handrail to first part of staircase (this is a health and safety requirement). Decor to stair case and the bedroom we occupied (Room1) definitely in need of attention. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel has a lovely atmosphere. (2435471)

positive comments Situation & service
negative comments Car parking. We understand that non-residents use car parking facility when shopping in Beccles. This creates a problem for residents to park.
