An extremely pleasant experience in a beautifully quiet town. (99542931)
Food was excellent.
Staff seemed interested in the quality of our weekend (not just the hotel).
No request appeared too much effort for the staff to do.

Number of mushrooms in the second garlic mushrooms starter appeared a bit stingey ;o)

Location and size of room

It was a bit
noisy until twelve due to its
central location, but wasn't too much of a problem
Keith from Luton, GB (Mature couple) 11 April 2008
We both enjoyed the stay and felt we like to visit again but next time make it longer, and I was pleased to here from the reception desk that if I wanted the same room I could request it at the time of booking (97839915)

It was very
clean and tidy and for the first time we were taken to our room this I thought was a personal tough and made us welcome

I had a problem using the taps in the
Bathroom I felt there should have been some thing like a visual aid

The Kings Head is an old coaching inn that is ideally situated for exploring the Norfolk/Suffolk border and surrounding broads. Its position in the centre of Beccles makes it easy to find but parking is a little limited. Access to the top floor could be regarded as 'challenging' for anyone over six feet tall - which neither of us are so we weren't at all upset by it. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area.
On the whole a thoroughly enjoyable experience! (97294818)

Generally very pleasant stay and close to other amenities. The staff were efficient and friendly. We did not have an evening meal so we cannot comment on this but there was a good choice of breakfast, well cooked and served with a smile. (3304954521)

The room was
clean, well furnished and airy. The staff were

The Hotel had a function room near to our room and was

The
noise levels were high on all three nights, Friday with the rowdies, Sat with the singing after a late birthday bash Sunday delivery vans both early hours 12.30am 4am and 7am

The Hotel stands in a Market square and is truly the Heart of the community. The Bedrooms have been recently re-furbished, (you won't find any stained carpets, mildewed shower curtains or tired furnishings in these Bedrooms. The Restaurant serves a more than adequate selection of fine foods all very keenly priced with no compromise on quality. The Staff were responsive, welcoming and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated as the ''first customers of the day'' even though we arrived at 19.00 hrs. We will definately use this hotel again!! Although I am loathed to reccomend this hotel to others as I want to keep this gem stone for myself!! (3304899849)

Hotel is good and the area is lovely. Unfortunately the town square location means we were woken several times during the night when delivery drivers arrived and unloaded. If you are looking for a peaceful nights sleep look else where. (3304201768)

I feel that a restaurant should have waiters service, although the food was good, Ordering food from the bar is fine for a ploughman's lunch. Our stay was only marred by the dining experience. (2959926)
Clean,
Comfortable, well presented.

It would have been
nice to see a real log fire, even an artificial one would have given the place a more welcoming feel.
Restaurant was not A'la carte.

The hotel was excellent, and the staff friendly and efficient. Bearing in mind that the accommodation is over a pub, we expected it to be noisy. In fact, we couldn't hear anything from our room, from which we had a pleasant view over the market square. (3003887)

We would have liked to be informed that there was so much work being done. If we had known that it would be a building site we would not have booked. As for the breakfast the standard for this was very poor, the scrambled eggs were like rubber and was un eatable. (2740948)

The Room

While we understand you were in the
middle of refurnishing the hotel. The room was very cod and the heating was not working.
Anonymous (Young couple) 02 September 2005
Knowing the area and the hotel from my childhood I was pleased to stay in the heart of Beccles. However, the experience was marred by the dirtiness of the hotel and general disrepair of furnishings anf fittings. Whilst I only just begrudged the £50 cost that I got through booking on the Internet, £70 would have been overpriced. (2561889)

The
location is delightful and the exteria of the the hotel charming. Our welcome was
pleasant with provision made for our tandem!

Whilst I understand that the hotel is embarking on major refurbishments, the delapidation of the
building is no excuse for the dirtiness of the entire
building. Our room was adequate, whereas the commnunal
areas (particularly the
dining room) were visibly dirty and certain
areas had clearly not been cleaned thoroughly for some time. There was also a nasty smell in the
dining room. This made
dining at the hotel an altogether unpleasant and worrying
experience.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 01 September 2005
OK but would not have stayed if we had been informed of the works & also the building was like a warren upstairs, I was afraid that a fire would break out Staff were helpful & pleasant but slow service (2383604)

Cannot fully judge as the whole
building was undergoing refurbishment
