Excellent overall with every probability that NH will be used in future and will consider using it whan abroad as well. Prior to this visit. we were unaware of its existence as an international hotel group.

Very good value for money. Friendly and welcoming reception staff. Excellent manner of the staff regarding storing baggage. Quiet location.Excellent decor in foyer.

At times found it hard to access hot water in the room. Found the TV system a bit confusing.

The decor of the hotel afternoon tea was lovely although we were served tea with biscuits in wrappers

We up graded to a junior suite - no additional fruit or biscuits 1 tea bag each
the bathroom was cold and had to be fixed the bathroom floor was cold - no slippers no bathrobe
JEANETTE from FLEET, GB (Other) 26 November 2008
Was surprised that the second room we were given was graded as a superior room as it was very small. The hotel was clean and as we were only there for a dinner dance we were not too worried but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for a long term stay.
(107979552)

Good location. Staff friendly and helpful. Room location good (ground floor). Dinner Dance Excellent, food and service good.

Initial room twin (double booked!) but no problem with changing. 2nd room very dark, awful lighting and small bed. Small ensuite. Television reception diabolical (like looking through a snow storm!).

Bar staff (female) very personable and efficient

Check in staff (male) distracted and abrupt
Room (standard double) a bit too small
Rachel from Otley, GB (Solo business traveller) 18 October 2008
I stayed over to be well-rested for an important meeting. The noise of the staff in the corridor defeated that aim.
(107803737)

Clean and bright foyer. Beautiful outdoor terrace with wedgewood ceiling. Nestling backwater yet central. Room clean.

Staff a bit grumpy about extending checkout by one hour.
Staff a bit grumpy about my checking out 10 mins after the hour.
Lunch waiter put me off ordering from new menu as was only second day of it and he was not sure it was working.
Lunch waiter put me off ordering more than a sandwich FROM THE LUNCH MENU at LUNCH time, as "it is very busy being lunch time".
Staff making up the room parked their trolley outside my room at around 8.10 am and chatted loudly in front of my do not disturb sign. I put my head out to ask them to stop as I was trying to rest prior to an important meeting. A few minutes later, another staff member, in a suit this time, could be heard talking loudly in the hallway. Again I put my head out, but all too late, there was no prospect of further rest.

The staff were great, especially the bellmen. They recommended great places to go for dinner, and always were nice.
Shower was great. Great location.

Horrible TV selection. All the toiletries were in Italian? Creaky floors. Extremely high prices of food and drink in the hotel. Shower curtain was such that it allowed water out of the shower. Not enough towels. BEd was very uncomfortable.
lee from st helier, jersey, c.i., GB (Young couple) 28 November 2007
the staff were excellent specially the 2 girls on front desk! the lift was very small but it didnt put me off , location right next to st james tube station and then 2 stops from the main shopping area!!! we went to see machinehead on the black crusade tour and the jolly was just the place......

An excellent location for sightseeing. The staff were friedly and helpful and an excellent breakfast was on offer at a reduced rate for residents.

The lift was very tiny but it did the job so it isn't really a complaint.
Michael from Little Somborne, GB (Other) 13 October 2007
The hotel is a fine building for a potentially great place to stay. the location os excellent. However a lack of attention to detail lets it down at present.
(97185522)

Good Location.
Nice size room and bathroom with pleasant comfortable furnishings

1) Phones didnt work
2) lack of wireless access for guests in rooms
3) Noise from corridor was disturbing during the night
4) Minibar fridge began beeping during the night with no obvious way to switch it off
Angelika from Neustadt/WeinstraĆ?e, DE (Mature couple) 25 July 2007
We only stayed there one night: found a very friendly staff, stayed in a very clean and quiet room which was really relaxing from the city and we loved the victorian entrance hall. So we can recommend this hotel which is also situated perfectly in London (underground nearby) and the price is absolutely fair.
(97402172)

the victorian entrance hall, service for luggage, quietness of the place and of the room (no noise at all from neighbour rooms), very clean

The hotel is well placed for tourists and business travellers. The staff are helpful. The room was very compact but it was quiet and clean. The Continental breakfast was good value and there was plenty of space to relax in the public rooms. Given that London hotels are so expensive this hotel offered comparatively good value for money.
(99578036)

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good and the public rooms were comfortable and spacious.

The room was quite small and the views were poor but for this area of London it was reasonable.

Laurie from Bartlett, US (Young couple) 24 May 2007
Great place, they were working on the hotel, (May 2007) but it didn't impact our stay. clean, nice rooms, all the amenities of a big chain hotel, but with the old world charm. All staff was wonderful. Booked a few things at the hotel, that was nice/convenient, but I think we might have paid a few extra bucks for booking there. Great location. Would stay here again. Always willing to give directions, get a cab or answer questions.
(99143257)

Old world style, nice rooms, GREAT location to the tube and all different stops, and sights. We walked more than we thought, because things were so close.

squeaky floors, but that adds to the charm to the old hotel and its' history.

Nice, clean, friendly staff. a pluss for the workspace in my room room. Close to where my meeting was held

Breakfast could be better and the breakfast room was a bit crowded
jenni from Norwich, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 17 January 2007
We were greeted pleasantly and efficiently upon our arrival and throughout out stay ALL of the staff we encountered were excellent, they extremely friendly polite and helpful. The room was well furnished, clean and well equipped with tea/coffee making tray and toiletries - I particularly liked the sachet for cleaning spectacles which was very effective.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had a very nice buffet meal. The breakfast was also buffet style, and again had everything that you could wish for. The waiters on both occasions were mainly Italian and were wonderful, very attentive and helpful.
On checkout, I queried the bill as we had been charged for breakfast when I understood it was included in the price quoted on reservation. I was told that that was not normally the case and as I did not have the printout from my internet booking, I said I would pay the charge and check later. Upon returning home, I found I was correct and send a letter to the hotel. Two days later I had the charge refunded into my bank account.
The hotel is near to two tube stations, there are restaurants and shops just a short walk away, so the location is excellent also.
In summary, we were extremely happy with this hotel. We visit London at least every three months, and will stay Jolly St Ermin's every time from now on, and would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting London. Do go and visit for yourself.
