Good for location but not much else. (108071624)

positive comments Very close to the train station
negative comments In need of some TLC and someone with some DIY skills. Generally run down. Confusion over twin and double rooms. GUESTS MUST STATE WHAT THEY WANT THE ROOM MADE UP AS! Nasty cat on the landing at night! Dirty towels in the morning

The place was in need of make over, it was very tired looking. But the hospitality from the proprioters was excellent,as was the breakfast. (99978868)

The room was clean, bed comfortable, tea coffee available in room. The proprietor was very helpful, friendly and accommodating and We would have no hesitation to stay there if we visited the area again. (97386427)

The landlady did say at one point that they were new to the business, which may explain the general air of amateurish incompetence, but it doesn't explain why they haven't done anything to put it right. I might expect some of these faults at the end of the season when the hotel has been in continual use for four months, but not at the beginning of June. (97152114)

positive comments I'm struggling to find any. There was a ceiling fan which worked well.
negative comments The room was extremely small; lightbulb broken; threshold to shower a trip hazard; bed mattress lumpy; window didn't open; storage for clothes inadequate; anything above waist height was dusty and cobwebby; the towels were small and grey and thin. In the other parts of the 'hotel' that I saw, carpets and furnishings were dirty and in need of renewal; there were cats cradles of trailing wires from overloaded electric points; there was a terrible smell of burning while breakfast was prepared although the food itself was ample and quite edible, if greasy; the 'butter' had been scraped into its pot and decorated with a fork; there was an ant in the sugar bowl and when I went to change it with a bowl from another table it was perfectly obvious that all of them had been filled several days before and added to over time without washing - do you want me to go on?
