We did not stay because the room we were shown was not acceptable and the staff were not prepared to show us any other rooms.

The room my colleagues were shown was not fit for purpose ! It was damp, dingy and there was a smell of urine and indian cuisine !

Limited English menu, however the Chef's Special was very good.

An experience!!!

Polite staff; clean sheets and towels. Good working shower. Sufficient amenities

Window fastener broken - window could not be closed securely - poor security. Towel rail falling off wall. Bedside lampbulb not working. Shower curtain mouldy, carpets filthy. Curtains only rags - no hems. Net curtain knotted with dead flies in the curtain.

For "affordable prices" we could get much more anywhere else.

Cuisine, except breakfasts. Breakfasts were absolutely disorganized. Preparation lasted about 1 hour every day.

Everything else.

Good Indian Food

Too close to the railway
Anonymous (Solo business traveller) 19 September 2008
Well over priced at £70 for B&B
(107221427)

Generous portions evening meal although choice was only Indian cooking

Poorly lit access via roof to rooms
No curtain in sky-light/window, which was in almost same level as road
No proper clothes hangers

stay clear of the railway in, you would do yourself a favour

Culham was nice

The staff was RUDE, the food was cold,on arrival dirty cups in our room with no apology and when i went to drop keys off after our stay (as requested) the place was deserted! had to leave them in our room with the door open.

Having seen the exterior, public areas and room we decided not to stay at this establishment. What we read on the net was not reflected in what we found.
(108087143)

General external appearance - filthy curtains, rubbish under steps. Access to room via restaurant and onto flat roof. Room poorly ventilated, basic furniture and could have been cleaner.

Adequate but would have been near perfect if quieter.
(108023669)

Staff friendly and helpful (if difficult to understand at times)
Plenty of parking available.
Immediate access to main line station.
Bar good

Noisy trains (to be expected given the location)
Very noisy water pressure pump that responded to every tap being turned on and located in cupboard outside room 9 (but just behind bed headboard of room 9 - very disruptive.
Breakfast limited to full English with nothing else on display (although alternatives possibly could have been requested). No side plates for toast for marmalade etc.

No mention that the hotel is also a curry / tandori restaurant / take away and right ontop of a mainline rail link to London. Trains ran all through the night. NOT a restful stay!

would not visit again.

The staff were well turned out and polite. The bedding in the room, along with towels did appear clean. The downstairs did appear to have been recently refurbished, a shame the bedrooms hadn't had the same treatment.

The room was overcrowded with furniture, the bathroom was not clean - the shower door - glass was extremely dirty. It was noisy well into the night with no sound proofing. There was a permeating smell of the tandori resturant downstairs that was in the towels and bedding that wasn't pleasant throughout the night and in the morning. The downstairs resturant and bar area looked to have been recently refurbished, upstairs it was not very clean or well maintained. Not very prompt at fulfilling requests as i had to ask for a hairdryer - as advertised - twice and to obtain it took over an hour, but one was eventually provided, which made it the more frustrating.

Other guests said that the room cleaning needed a woman's touch! The Indian owners do seem to be trying to make a go of this business and we expect it to improve. Maybe they just do not know what is expected by guests. Maybe more guests adding comments will help. The prices may be going up but being so near the railway line makes it hard to sleep unless you are drunk or just used to that sort of noise. Maybe there are not normally so many night freight trains. There were certainly less on the Friday night than on the Thursday night.
(97560142)

Noisey. Very near train station and freight trains go all night. 18th Party in marquee ended just after midnight but expected it to go on longer. Only Sugar Puffs for breakfast cereal, no muesli etc

We stayed at this hotel because it was the closest we could find to Oxford over the Oxford University Open Day period and everywhere was full up. Staff were friendly and the cuisine very nice, if not a tad expensive. Breakfast was good and filling, however I found the overall price a little high. Very convenient for catching the train to Oxford if you cannot get anywhere nearer Oxford.
(108080885)

The Staff were friendly. It was very convenient for the train to Oxford and we enjoyed the Indian meal on the nightime after a long trip.

Perhaps too close to the train track as trains go past all through the night and it is quite noisy. There was quite a lot of dust on the skirting boards.

Ver pleasant staff, very well kept hotel, clean and tidy. The restaurant facility was good standard, and food was good and delivered by friendly staff

The only really serious downside of a stay at this hotel is the constant and sometimes very loud noise of trains passing on the main line into Oxford that is directly adjacent to the hotel. In fact the place rumbles when some of the high speed trains pass.
