Very enjoyable. Staff were excellent and well trained.

We used the hotel because of the excellent selection of facilities.

Good facilities, however we had to queue for 10 minutes to use the showers as there were not enough making us late for our dinner reservation. Showers were dirty with great clumps of hair in the bottom of each and the empty shower gel containers scattered on the floor. Overall state of changing rooms was not good.
We were near the lifts and were woken by lift noise during the night and banging on the ceiling another night.

A lovely hotel in a lovely setting. Very disappointed in inability to use facilities we felt we had paid for.We had a good break generally by making our own entertainment off site. Dress codes, opening times etc should be far more clearly stated and there should be more continuity in adherence to rules where they apply.
(107964852)

restaurant excellent. restaurant staff excelent and very knowledgeable about food and wine and where it was sourced locally.
food excellent(esp local produce).
room and hotel very clean

My booking only offered the room as twin/double without being given the specific choice. Only when I followed this up directly with the hotel did I discover we had been booked into a twin room and was luckily able to change this.
'spa' pool had several screaming kids jumping in and out despite signs saying no jumping/diving. also kids in jacuzzi.
Golf NOT accessible for all as described in brochure. Acorns pay and play still required strict dress code and golf shoes which we do not own so we were unable to play. I would not have booked this hotel at this price had i known this. Also
Nigel Mansell world of racing only open sun at 3 (had to check out by 11) and wed afternoon. Brochure did state that if you wanted a tour these were the only availiable times but it did not say that you can only view the exhibit by tour. A bit mis leading. My main reason for booking was to treat my fiance to the golf and the mansell exhibit, neither of which we could do. We did use the spa but its relaxing intentions were spoilt by noisy children. Given the strictness surrounding the golf i was surprised the rules were so liberally flaunted in the spa.

Very good experience, room is ok, mostly excellent quality of hotel services. Restaurant is good, very staff caring, meals are rather simple than sofisticated, but well done

Friendly and caring staff, cleanliness, lovely environment, excellent wellbeing facilities, good restaurant

Water in the swimming pool is too chemical - what about ionization instead of chlor.

Clean,comfortable,quiet location,attentive staff

Probably because the hotel is relatively new it seemed to have no atmosphere and was sterile
A mini-bar would have been welcome
sarah from stafford, GB (Solo business traveller) 10 March 2008
The interent connection wasn't very good - couldn't access it in my room in the morning so had to log on in the reception.
Found the decoration in the rooms looking a bit tired - needed updating as the wallpaper was started to peel away.
Sat. Nav couldn't find the postcode of the hotel so had to ask for directions.

Clean comfortable rooms; great value for money at the restuarant - excellent meal.
Bryan from Buxted, GB (Mature couple) 04 March 2008
The hotel would have done better to offer a deal on an evening meal as well as the room as they apppeared to be very quiet in the restaurant but B & B was very good value

Good level of cleanliness and fixtures/fittings.

Bathroom extractor fan did not work which may have accounted for slight 'damp smell' in the bathroom.

Overall the hotel was of a very good standard and the room was well equipped. Only complaint was the room layout that made acess to the wardrobe very difficult due to the bed location
(97239889)

Lovely location and good staff

Room layout difficult - almost impossible to open the wardrobe doors due to bed location

Good service.
The Rump Steak was excellent and plentiful!
A-la carte was the only menu. Perhaps an alternative / Bar menu could prove popular.

Clean & Smart

Wi-fi coverage in room non-existent and no modem / telephone connection as alternative to acces web.

Overall the hotel was excellent. Great value for money, excellent location, good food, good leisure facilities.
the only issue that I had was being unable to connect to the Wi Fi. I was advised after a while that I would only be able to connect if I had Windows Vista which seemed a bit odd.

Overall, a very impressive establishment with helpful and friendly staff. I was very tempted to indulge myself with one of the salon treatments but unfortunately didn't have time. I would definitely consider staying at the hotel again.
(97504152)

It was very quiet and the view from our room out over the golf course was beautiful and serene. The food in the restaurant (dinner and breakfast) was of a high quality and the waiter/waitress service was very good overall.

There was nothing of any significance to dislike. I would have liked to have seen a selection of herbal teabags in the room.

Jane from Kings Langley, GB (Mature couple) 24 October 2007
We would have preffered to have known that the room may have a window that overlooks the restaurant with no natural daylight. The beds were not overly comfortable (hard mattress)Breakfast was very good and the staff friendly and polite.
(97808241)

communal parts of the hotel were decorated to a good standard, the hotel was spacious and airy.

our room had recently been redecorated and still had a strong smell of paint, the window overlooked the restaurant and felt claustrophobic, no opening windows meant the air conditioning ran most of the night. we would have preffered a room with an external window.

good shower. lovely surroundings

uncomfortable bed. very poor soundproofing between rooms. no fridge. poor level of decoration. living off the 'mansell' name. expensive for what it was- have stayed in much better hotels for a lot less money.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 19 July 2007
The design of the hotel made it feel a bit airless. We like to be able to open windows and had an internal room looking over the dining atrium.I would suggest you insist on a room with a view and opening windows. I have also had better bedlinen and pillows - a short sighted economy. The staff generally and breakfast were ok. Could they not have spared someone to cook eggs to order? It is these little things that let this place down.
(97779673)

Setting was beautiful and it was quiet

we had an internal room which had a sealed window to the atrium this was airless and we had to have noisy air conditioning on for part of the night. If we had been staying longer or not been in such a rush to go to our event we would have asked to change. The Reception staff started on a bad foot by thinking our room wasnt ready despite it being check in time, explaining that some footballers had been late checking out. Not really my problem and it didnt make us feel very welcomed especially as she then went on to explain when we should check out the next day ie on time!

I requested a double but got a twin room.Room was fairly small for the price and sometimes noisy. Some of the wallpaper was peeling/torn and marked in places.

I virtally live in hotels during the week and this is the best one I have stayed in for many months. I like to swim and it is rare to get a hotel that has a decent length (20 metres) pool as part of its leisure facilities. The food was superb and fully deserving of its AA rosette award for the past two years. I look forward to staying here again in the future.

The hotel seems to think excellent leaisure and sporting facilities take precedence over guest comfort. The bed was so uncomfortable we were unable to have a good nights rest, despite asking for a better matress nothing was done. Lighting in the room is totally inadequate to work, higher watt lightbulbs had to be installed. Glasses used the previous day were not removed from the room.
(99153318)

Leisure facilities

Very uncomfortable bed, poor lighting in room, very bad and inadequate vegetarian menu, leisure centre used by large groups at times guests would like to use.

Overall, we were pleased with the hotel and its facilities. The leisure centre was great with unlimited use of the swimming pool, etc. We had coffee in the conservatory of the club house and was disappointed that there was not fruit on offer to buy to have with coffee, only very high calorie cakes, could be a plus with anyone watching their weight, even on holiday. Also when checking out, we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay, a little parting touch and makes the customer feel special, but sadly lacking with your staff.
(3305180190)

It was an adequate size for two and overlooked the golf course.

There was a rip in the wallpaper which spoilt the overall look of the room, could have been covered up with a picture until you were able to redecorate. The beds were too hard, did not sleep very well on any of the 3 night stay.
