John from Nuneaton, GB (Family with older children) 04 November 2008

Really enjoyable. A little worried as first hotel stay with our baby (7 months), but staff could not do enough to help and the facilities were very good. (107225377)

positive comments Service excellent. Very good facilities. Well set up for babies.

Tracey from Holyhead, GB (Group of work colleagues) 21 October 2008

The entertainment desperately needs looking at as we had 60's music every night. Not to everybodys taste. (107587246)

negative comments We were celebrating a 40th birtday and wanted to bring in champagne as the champagne in Hotel was far too expensive,

Adqequate (97765766)

positive comments Excellent service in restaurant at breakfast
negative comments 1. No air conditioning in room, only able to partially open window and then suffer noise from street. 2. Lack of signage to reception, restaurant etc. The hotel is a bit of a labarinth and needs good signage. 3. Arrived from ferry at 8.30 to be told restaurant had closed. Dinner for arrivals should be coordinated to ferry times or at least room service offered. 4. Lack of facilities for smokers, even banned from the terrace which is poor. 5. Paid at time of booking but no receipt provided from hotel. 6. No offer of morning newspaper.

Excellent value for money, especially if you love your food.Beautiful, large, modernly decorated lounge and lobby area. Found communication with reception and dining room staff a bit difficult due to english not being their first language. (97808435)

positive comments Room was spacious and modern.Lobby, lounge and bar area modern with nice decor, extending to a beautiful conservatory and to an outdoor seating area.Bar lively with musician in the the evenings. The best thing however has to be the fabulous self service breakfast and evening dinner. This has the best selection of food I have ever encountered in any other hotel.
negative comments The car park was very crammed with parking space between cars very tight.Your website stated that public internet access was free in the lobby. This is not so.You have to buy a voucher and password at reception .

We were pleased with the hotel overall. I would recommend this hotel to others, but would suggest that Half Board would be a better option if the choice were available. (97098042)

positive comments Good position, very clean and well appointed for all ages. Plenty of places to sit and rest. Good leisure facilities. Good sized bedroom.
negative comments Hotel restaurant, whilst excellent, was well overpriced as were the wines. considering Jersey is supposed to be VAT free, we didn't notice any savings.
Excellent
GARETH from AMLWCH, GB (Family with older children) 21 April 2008

The 2 for 1 midweek deal ( April ) was great value for money. Entertainment was a bit dated but maybe that was an early season thing. Only used the restaurant for breakfast so can't comment on dinner but menu looked quite good. Overall , lived up to all the good reviews I researched before deciding on the Merton. (97998225)

positive comments Spacious and inviting public areas. The hotel has a quality feel and is better than similar graded hotels we have stayed in across the UK. excellent pool complex.

A really wonderful hotel,in a lovely part of the island.Everything you see or read about the Merton Hotel is spot on.The breakfast was probably one of the best we have experienced on our travels. If anyone can find faults with this hotel then they must be very hard to please! (45597973)

Pros I had a drink in the bar when I arrived and the prices were reasonable. The room was fine, bed comfortable especially the pillows. Bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. Cons Very limited room service menu which considering the number of places to eat in the hotel was surprising. If, like me, you were in Jersey on business, the option to eat in your room after a long day is very welcome. (3305118274)

positive comments Clean decent size room
negative comments Poor room service menu

Rooms well clean and in full working order. Restaurant staff were particularly attentive and made me feel very welcome, which is important when you are staying away on your own. (3304434159)

positive comments Clean, well presented and all in working order.
negative comments Unable to deadlock the door from the inside. This is an issue for a woman staying on her own.
Good
Malcolm from South Shields, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 02 October 2005

The description of the hotel, the location and the overall stay was as we expected from the information provided on your web site. For al the rooms were acceptablr we felt that they needed updating / decorating to remain in line with simular hotels with the same rating. (2770219)

positive comments The food, staff and entertainment were exelent
negative comments Rooms need updating / decorating in the area we were situated
Excellent
John from Beckenham, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 30 September 2005

This is a large hotel with several restaurants. There are both smoking and non smoking rooms so be sure to specify which you want when booking. It is clean and well staffed. There is ample car parking (uncovered). The pool complex is in a separate building across a quiet side road. It has one flume and a large pool which extends both indoors and outdoors. They supply towels for a refundable £3 deposit. The breakfast was served buffet style and was very good. Fruit juices, tinned fruit, fresh apples, cereals, full english cooked breakfast, toast, cakes, tea & coffee were all available in unlimited supply. The only downside was that the tea bags failed to make a good cup of tea. It was far too weak, so take your own, or have coffee. (2773903)

positive comments Beds were comfortable. Daily maid service good. Breakfast excellent.
negative comments Use better quality tea bags in both rooms and restaurants.
