The location and overall experience was good. Could have done with more staff and a bath in the room.
(97544180)

the location, the open fire, the bar and the food in the bar

the staff were good, but it was under staffed so there was no one at the reception desk any time we needed it and it took ages to get served at breakfast, we nearly had to leave before getting our cooked breakfast as we needed to get on the road!

This hotel is exceptional in its situation just off the main street where most of the action taking place in Heartbeat. The hotel does not trade on the TV show either which is good. They have a good menu for both residents and visitors alike, bar food to a high standard as is their restaurant and menu for residents. When asked about the surrounding area the staff are very informative and know their stuff.

The accommodation was spacious, clean, views excellent. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom clean and spacious, well appointed

The hotel was much better than we had hoped for. Everything was super - room, staff, position, atmosphere food. Refurbishment has obviously been done very recently. some areas have not been decorated - that did not detract from this lovely hotel. We now see that it has been credited with 3 stars which we think it deserves!

a beautiful hotel in a lovely part of the country. the suite we booked was decorated and furnished to a very high standard (Laura Ashley) and very relaxing. the lounge areas and bars were also quiet and staff polite and attentive.
the food in the restaurant was superb and we have had a lovely and relaxing break there
would recommend it to our friends and family

beautiful room. characterful hotel and lovely food, both in the restaurant and bar meals.

heating was not controllable in our room and seldom on. the positioning of the toilet roll holder was awkward in our bathroom. the bath towels were small (bath sheets would have been more in fitting with the room) a mini bar or fridge would have been nice in the suite we had
the staff were friendly, but we found during the day there was often nobody sat at reception and the bell to call them did not seem to work (or they ignored it) we had to leave our key behind the desk and locate it ourselves twice when we came back

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mallyan Spout Hotel. The room had been refurbished to a high standard, and was very comfortable, including the bed. Staff were helpful and attentive. The bar area was warm and cosy, with a log fire. The cooked breakfast was excellent, with a good range of choice, including smoked fish. The Bakers basket looked a little forlorn, however. Our only disappointment was one of our bar meals in the evening, where the fresh fish was anything but fresh. However, a replacement meal was quickly offered and was fine. Its a wonderful location, with excellent walks from the hotel, on the N.York moors,or along the old railway track to Grosmont.

The room, which had been refurbished to a high standard; the public areas - warm and friendly, with a cosy log fire.

The only disappointment was the bar meal - 'fresh' fish that was not at all fresh, but inedible

An excellent value for money overnight stay. This is a hotel of character in a beautiful country setting with friendly and welcoming staff in all areas. The menu had an excellent range with wholesome, freshly cooked food. We will return again the next time that we wish to visit this area of North Yorkshire. Top marks !

This hotel has very pretty and comfotable contemporary bedrooms - do not be put off by the rather dour exterior.!!
(3305107208)

The very smart Laura Ashley bedroom - contemporary and comfortable.

Not such nice furnishings in the bar - dining bar and rather dark and old fashioned in the ground floor. May be it needs different lighting?

this accommodation is clean, comfortable, ideally situated and easy to find. The staff were very friendly and although the hotel was quite full, it did not feel overcrowded.the food was plentifull and of high standard, i spoke to other guests who use hotel rgularly and rate it highly. It is only a short walk to the 'Aidensfield Arms' if you want a change of scene and the hotel bar is well stocked with alcohol if you want a quiet night and a few drinks before bed time.
(3304991379)

the hotel is ideally situated within walking distance of the Mallayan Spout waterfall and the station where the Steam Train can be caught. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull and the evening meal was superb.Breakfast was at a time suitable for me ie till 10am, as i do not like to get up too early on a sunday morning. i would recommend this hotel to my friends.

nothing in rooms was to my dislike however a hairdryer in room would have been helpfull as when i travel, i do not always plan an overninght stay, therefore sometimes a hairdryer can be useull.

WE FELT VALUED AND FOUND THE MANAGEMENT TO BE FORMAL BUT FRIENDLY. ALL REQUESTS WERE DEALT WITH PROMPTLY.

THE HOTEL BAR WAS RATHER SMALL BUT THE FOOD WAS FIRST CLASS.
