Guest reviews of the Mellington Hall Hotel

Good
James from Caernarfon, GB (Mature couple) 26 March 2008

The adjoining caravan psrk is tastefully disguised which helps to maintain the olde world feel of the Hall. (97984156)

positive comments A wonderful old building set in idylic countryside.

I really haven't anything bad to say about this beautiful hotel - the staff were efficient, friendly and polite and I wouldn't hesitate to book here again. The breakfast was delicious and brought up as a room service request. The internet access is a problem; as a business traveller I can't really afford not to be able to access my e-mails. My company would be happy to pay for the access but perhaps the location is a problem for this. I will ask them for a 3G card and I will be back! (97934889)

positive comments The beautiful building and room, really breathtaking and extremely good value for money.
negative comments No internet access and no fridge.

I was working in Welshpool and although the hotel is 10 or more miles away it is well worth the extra effort to experience staying at the Mellington. It is a wonderful hotel with only 5 bedrooms at present. I hope that the current extention to bedrooms is an asset to them whilst retaining their current presentation and quality (99971754)

positive comments The quality of the accomodation is second to none and rates well with top5 star accomodation but at realistic pricing

This must be one of the friendliest hotels I have ever visited. All of the staff involved, both evening and early morning, were both welcoming and approachable and a credit to their employers. The quality of the food was outstanding, the peppered Welsh beef is highly recommended ! Probably one of the best nights sleep I've had in a hotel as a result of the comfort of the bed. ... and what a fantastic building with an equally fantastic set of views. A big thank you from me. (3304245801)

positive comments You name it it was all exceptional
negative comments Signage at the bottom of the drive, its not the easiest place to find, especially in the dark.

positive comments Nice surroundings. Great room. The food and friendliness of staff was excellent.
negative comments Blinds in the bathroom would have been nice. The TV reception was poor. There was a dog barking outside my bedroom window at 7am on one morning. I wasn't too bothered as I needed to get up anyway.

stephen from maids moreton, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 01 September 2005

the hotel is situated in a lovely location and is well maintained and looked after. The room was large, spacious and had all the modern conveniences whilst maintaining a traditional and personal decor. Food and service in the restaurant were excellent and the prices were sensible. The adjacent static home park, which initially could have been a concern, was well maintained and actually enhanced the ambiance of the location (2646599)

positive comments lovely location, beautiful building, excellent rooms

The whole place was charming. The room was delightful, the food excellent & the setting idyllic. Friendly staff & warm weather made the whole thing superb. I was surprised by the static caravan park so close to such a grand building though. (2675748)

positive comments The character & style of the hotel, room & staff
negative comments There was quite a lot of noise at night from children that seemed to have the run of the entire place. The gardens could have been magnificent - a little time spent clearing up litter & planting herbaceous borders would have gone a long way.

Ewan from Bromsgrove, United Kingdom;GB (Family with older children) 09 August 2005

A pleasant country hotel in a beautiful setting particularly well suited for those walking the Offa’s Dyke footpath which runs through the grounds. The hotel gives the impression that it has seen better days, but it is clean and pleasant enough. Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was of a good standard. The associated holiday park and caravan site means that this hotel can never aspire to be in the first division of country house hotels but it provides some of the attractions of such hotels at a significantly lower cost. (2578375)

positive comments Good location for the Offa's Dyke Path. In beautifull setting
negative comments Slighty scruffy public areas, but clean and pleasant enough
