Rooms were small and parking in the hotel carpark was a bit inconvenient with the gate system but there was plenty of parking directly outside.

I reserved at Le Cheval Blanc because of positive reviews from other guests on this website. They were right! I wasn't sure about parking but there are a few spaces behind the gates, and since the hotel is well-located relative to many of the attractions in Cognac, we were able to walk to many of the sights. The hoteliers are lovely young people who work hard to make staying at the hotel a good experience for their guests. The hotelier accommodated us with a room on the ground floor behind the hotel, and it was very quiet at night. The hotelier changed some Cognac tour reservations for us so we could fit more into our schedule. They gave us restaurant recommendations. They provided an extra pillow and towels. They were almost like friends who want to be sure you have a good time but do not impose upon you. (2740473)

The hotel is easy to find - it is well sign posted and also can be found by following directions to La Poste. The accommodation is simple but clean and practical. The staff at the hotel was very welcoming, friendly and nice and the rooms were clean and cosy.

The staff were excellent, friendly and very willing to please. This hotel is very close to the MARTELL headquarters and the staff phoned to book a tour for us. As we are English and the tour was conducted in Frenchwe were not charged entry. I marked the hotel down - a little - because I spent an uncomfortable night becoming far too hot to sleep. I must say, this only affected myself; my wife slept very well. The courtyard parking is very useful and having breakfast in the courtyard was joyous. Beware of road directions to the hotel; we used Mappy online and it instructed us to turn into rue Aristide Briand - which is No Entry having been pedestrianised and made One Way ! In the centre of town there are good signposts to the hotels (2186799)

I found the single pillow uncomfortable for my use - a second pillow stored in the wardrobe would have been useful. This is very personal - my wife was happy with her bed and pillow.

We spent a very agreeable three nights at the hotel. Our room was light and airy and was cleaned each day with fresh towels put out. The buffet breakfast was basic but adequate and the coffee was delicious (not expresso, as was served in every brasserie, bar and restaurant we visited in Cognac and the surrounding towns and villages!) The hotelier was extremely friendly and helpful and allowed us to (try to) speak French rather than assume that we wanted him to speak English. All in all, I can thoroughly recommend a stay at Le Cheval Blanc when visiting Cognac. (2144454)
