All of the rooms we saw were beautifully restored without losing any of the charm and character of the age of the home. We were not able to eat dinner there but we had a wonderful breakfast every morning. The grounds are lovely and I agree with other reviewers that the aircraft noise from the nearby airport is inconsequential. If you want a hotel with a swimming pool, gym, and a concierge, this is not the place. But if you enjoy a beautiful setting that is quiet and genteel where you are served breakfast on china and greeted everyday by pleasant and interested hosts, then Egerton Grey is a great choice. This was an excellent place to stay - beautiful country house with the most spectacular views accross Porthkerry Park. A truely amazing hotel where we will certainly be returning. Our room had the most fabulous Victorian bath in the en-suite - it is worth paying the extra for a Superior Room. All the staff were extremely welcoming and the whole place was immaculately clean - a first class place to stay (97251176)

From the small things like pulling the curtains, putting on your lights and turning down the bed, the was an amazing time! The friendliness of staff was unremarkable and nothing was too much trouble from the welcome to offering to book a table at a nearby restaurant and booking transport to get there. The location was faultless with the most beautiful surroundings and the interior was stunning with very large spacious rooms.

Comfortable and invititing

This Country Hotel is just that,and is in a stunning location.The original features in the hotel are to die for,and the owner is a superb host and hands on.Only problem we had was finding the place. First impression was of the viaduct and the view of the sea between the arches. The hotel itself stands out in its difference to the norm, there was elegance in every room. It almost doesnt feel like a hotel. Our room had all its original features, a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The staff were all very friendly and helpful making us both feel very much at ease. The breakfasts were lovely as was the view of the viaduct and sea from the breakfast room. Should we ever come down to Cardiff again we would definately use this hotel. (3304655449)

There was absolutely nothing to dislike.

This hotel is located close to Cardiff airport and for some people this could be seen as a problem, however we found the noise less disruptive than we expected and the staff and surroundings made up for any minor inconvenience that it caused. The food was first rate and this was mentioned in your review so was very helpful. The hotel was very child friendly considering that it had lots of antiques! Quite scary with young children but again the staff made it feel like home from home. (3305042732)

We loved the food and the general care with which everything was done. The leisure rooms (pre and post prandial) were interesting with an array of books and stimulating atefacts and or views down to the sea. Very warm, hospitable and attentive staff, cleanliness, very comfortable bed and beautiful country setting, lovely and quiet.

Get a dog and two cats to lounge around the place to really make it feel like a warm and inviting country lodge more than it allready is.

Not sure this particular hotel could improve on much - we love it!

This hotel is a real find! Full of character and charm, with polite and friendly staff; the food was excellent, the bed comfortable; the setting was tranquil, despite being near the airport, and the view across the viaduct was beautiful. Some interesting reception rooms (such as the library) and historical artefacts scattered through the hotel definitely warrant closer inspection and a longer stay. Good value-for-money,too.
