we enjoyed our stay the Hotel was well placed superb Indian Resturant opposite. The male receptionist was neither friendly or unfriendly just doing his job, howver staff at breakfast were excellent. (107275459)

positive comments our room was fine we requested non smoking but were allocated smoking, this was immediately changed without fuss or apology but the room still smelt of smoke.

Parking facilities could be improved by reducing the space being taken up by the valeting company, and placing a barrier on the exit to stop local people parking there and going into town. (99393830)

positive comments Accommodation very centrally located.
negative comments Inadequate parking

Overall we were pleased with this hotel, but would like to have known where the room was as there was no lift, being over 60 and my sister 55 and having two very heavy suit cases made it a huge effort to reach our room. (3304556175)

positive comments Convenience to Gatwick
negative comments Only the noise from the awful creaking floor boards from the room directly above

Das Hotel bleibt unter seinen Moeglichkeiten! Wenn man das Georg bucht, sollte man darauf achten, dass man im alten, stilvollen Teil des Hotels untergebracht wird und nicht in den Anbauten / Neubauten. (3304655683)

positive comments Sehr schoene Ansicht (Tudor-Style), ein gro
negative comments Alles wirkt etwas schmuddellig. Bedienung nur mittelmaessig freundlich.

When I arrived I had been allocated a smoking room, even though I had requested non smoking. The room absolutely stank of stale smoke, so I asked to be moved. The hotel was full, but the receptionist was very good and on seeing my disappointment offered me a junior suite, which was again a smoking room, but suggested I go and see if it was any better than my original room. It was fine. The decor in the hotel was definately tired and in need of a refurbishment. There were signs up stating this was underway, but saw no evidence of it. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and as a budget hotel this was fine. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. (3304635079)

The hotel staff was extremely nice, and very helpful in helping us find things which were located near by. The hotel was close to lots of wonderful shopping, which we really enjoyed. The only complaint I would have, is that there is no shuttle or public transportation to the airport. But other than that the hotel was quite pleasent to stay in. Thanks for having us. (3304530245)

positive comments The hotel was fairly close to the airport, and the staff was helpful and answered all of our questions. It was close to great shopping and places to eat.
negative comments Nothing

Would recommend this hotel for its charm, some parts date from 16th Century I believe. Taxi service to and from airport recommended as only (3304391558)

positive comments Room changed and upgraded to The Mark Lemon Suite, after problems with original accomodation. Very nice room in old part of hotel, lots of character. Few bits of decor tired but appreciated the property is going through renovation programme. No noise made for a good nights sleep. Great breakfast included in price when booked online. Nice little town to explore right on doorstep.
negative comments Original allocation of room 160 was like a hothouse. Radiator couldnt be turned off and we had to move after two hours of trying to sleep in tropical conditions. Couldn't open window as on ground floor and next to carpark. That said the duty manager was very sympathetic and gave us a great room as an alternative.

The accommodation was adequate but the rooms need a make over. I stopped here last year and it is still the same.I also had my wedding reception here 31/32 years ago and it has not changed.Which means it has not been updated. It is OK for one night if you are not too fussy. Room service closes at 9pm so if like us you were late back from meeting and wanted coffee and a sandwich then tough. The woman who answered the phone was most unconcerned. I suppose you get what you pay for. The George has gone downhill over the years.Bathroom was dirty, tiles missing and generally grubby. (2955944)

positive comments Nothing.
negative comments It needs a complete make over.

We were impressed with this hotel. Despite a refurbishment in progress it was clean and quite. The staff were very polite and helpful, it is in a prime location and certainly good value for money. Would stay again!!! What better recommendation. (2503655)

positive comments Fulfilled all accomodation needs at a reasonable price. Breakfast too was well worth the inclusive price.
negative comments Could do with a restaraunt, had to look elsewhere for a meal out, and I couldn't really recommend anywhere else after 6pm, unless you like Pizza!

The hotel was having some of the bedroom areas decorated, to the extent that I couldn't actually get to the first room I was put in. The second room was a smoking room, I had asked for non smoking, and at least one of the ceiling lights didn't work. I had to ask reception for a loo roll, which arrived while I was out, and a shower mat to place inside the bath which never arrived. The empty beer can from a previous owner remained under the sink despite my request to have it removed. Throughout, the staff were indifferent amd at check out not a single word of polite conversation was exchanged. The whole hotel was shabby, tired and uninviting and this was reflected in the attitude of the staff.I shall never use this hotel again and will not be recommending it. (2598993)

Not a particularly pleasant experience. Would have preferred to pay more for better accomodation. (2395301)

positive comments The bed was excellent
negative comments Cleanliness: the carpet was badly stained, curtains & windows filthy Plumbing: Hot water coming through cold tap Service: Couldn't get anything to eat after 9pm
