We have stayed at this hotel many times before, this is the first time we had a poor experience.
(108094953)

Excellent food and choice of drinks

Out of the three rooms booked, one of the rooms had nail clippings and other debris on the floor and the other, that was occupied by my colleague was infested with bed bugs. Upon his return home (Finland) he had to be given antihistamines and corticosteroids to reduce his allergic reactions and inflammation. In response to the room with bed bugs he was offered GBP 10.00 discount on the rate when he checked out...

Friendly staff, excellent food, quiet location yet close to Lincoln and to Market Rasen racecourse. Bedroom nicely decorated and furnished, welcome tray well stocked.

Poor television and radio reception, no hairdryer provided in room although this was listed as being provided on English Country Inns site re facilites in Hotel

For £60.00 it was ok if had to pay more would of been dissappionted. The food was good but similarly over priced.
The breakfast when presented look very good but the sausages and mushrooms had been cooked in the chip pan and the toast was cold.

Friendly pub down stairs

Needs a basic re vamp and money spending on it. The pipe work made noise in my room every time someone else used their bathroom

A lovely pub with accommodation, very good food and in a beautiful little village

This is irrelevant as I knew the venue before booking having lived in the area many years ago.

Comfortable stay but maybe a little over-priced but with hotels in short supply in that area it was probably par for the course.
(97980395)

Easy to find, very extensive food menu. V good breakfast.

No hot water. Maybe a little over-priced for the accommodation you get.
allan from washington, GB (Mature couple) 12 December 2007
This hotel was booked because my wife and i liked the idea of staying in an olde country inn whilst visiting Lincoln christmas market.
However,we liked the location so much ( a typical english village )
we hope to be visiting again in the summer to explore the countryside.

was very good.

Handy for Humberside Airport. Good value for money. Pleasant and accommodating staff.
Anonymous (Solo business traveller) 29 June 2007
The staff were superb. There was flooding at the front of the hotel. I was delayed by a number of hours but when I got there they showed me my room and then produced an excellent meal. Breakfast was brilliant. One guest asked for an alternative dish (smoked haddock with poached egg) for his next day. The staff discussed it with him to establish what was required and then said they would arrange it for the friday breakfast. Everybody was helpful and friendly. I WILL take my wife and stay there again on a leisure basis.

It was convienient for the next day trip, the accommodation was adequate, the meals were good, staff friendly, some confusion as to whether we could have a meal, as soon as they realised we were staying over night that problem was smothed over.

Bathroom small and not exceptioally clean around the shower door.

The accommodation was well presented with an excellent TV/DvD player and a shower that is the best I have come across. The bed was very comfortable and the room's temperature was easy to control.

The lack of any clue as to how to operate the DvD/TV to obtain the best value from it. I'm sure a younger person would have had less difficulty.
Roy from Bury St Edmunds, GB (Mature couple) 11 April 2007
For us this accomodation was EVERYTHING that we required for an overnight , we were delighted with all aspects of our stay at this venue especially the close proximity of Lincoln.
Had we known beforehand what a hiddenGEM this is, set in glorious countryside with a wide choice of menu, cooked & served superbly we certainly would have booked a longer stay. Certainly we WILL be back again & are happy to recomend this Inn to our friends & family.

Have stayed with you previously and am more than happy with the general facilities of the hotel. The food is excellent as is the service.

Very acceptable room of above average size.

There is obviously a problem with air in the hot water pipes which starts banging and crashing around 6.00am
phil from surbiton, United Kingdom;GB (Solo business traveller) 21 February 2007
Everthing you could want for a pleasant nights stay. The hotel has lots of character and original features, the food is great and also the selection of beers. There were plenty of customers in the Bar and restuarant but the staff were attentive and prompt, and due to my late arrival the chef kept the kitchen open for me and provided some fine British fair!
A traditional English Inn at it's best

Friendly reception

Room was designated as non-smoking, but still reeked of smoke. I would not have booked had I known this. The room was a bit spartan, but I can live with that. The mounting of the television on the wall at a height of over 6 feet was inconvenient - and made me feel that I wasn't trusted not to remove it. The bed was also quite uncomfortable.
PHILIP from Barry, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 07 December 2006
Location was good. We don't know whether the error in providing the wrong type of room was due to the management or the on-line booking system. The dining room was fully taken up by non-resident parties (no doubt pre-booked) so that we had to eat in nominally no smoking area but where inevitably smoke drifted in from the main bar area.
Smoke also permeated the bedrooms from the bar below.
Was nearly very good!
