A relaxing stay and good value. (97678523)
The staff were very friendly and helpful - I arrived late and they arranged sandwiches for me which were really beautifully prepared. The room was decorated very stylishly - my particular room only had a shower and no bath - but this was fine for me - the shower cubicle was spacious and had a powerful shower.I have stayed here before and ate in the restaurant and the food was of a high standard. The communal areas lounges and garden are also to a very high standard. I have stayed in other hotels in Lewes and in my experience this is by far the best. (97794060)
My stay was enjoyable. The only thing I could critisize is that on my booking I made it plain I needed a room with 2 separate beds, as I was traveling with a friend. When we arrived, the room was ready, but made up as a single bed. This was put right very swiftly though, so not a big problem - life is waaay too short! The room was very nice, quiet and the hotel perfectly located in Lewes to enjoy the town - overall an excellent choice. (99878179)

Hey! It was only one night. The staff were pleasant and friendly - though we had to seek help from a passing cook to actually find the way into the room. We needed better directions from reception. We'd also have appreciated being asked if we would like to order a morning paper. The arrangements for breakfast were attractive and varied. Good bread, cardboard croissants, unimpressive coffee (rather sludgy). Town Centre location very useful and I'm glad we didn't book parking at the hotel - looked a nightmare. We actually found free Sat night and Sunday parking by Guido's restaurant. Information like this would have been useful in advance. (99010910)

Beautiful hotel in a great location in Lewes. Very friendly staff and nice common areas. The room was a bit basic, but clean and very spacious. Overall a great experience. (3304957811)
You would need to be a millionaire to stay here not an ordinery working person. (3304275952)
The Pelham House hotel is a wonderful building recently refurbished with great taste and to a high standard. It retains original features while providing great comfort. The entrance halls and staircase are beautiful, and other reception rooms such as the restaurant are also excellent. There is a grand piano in the hall, and no-one had any objection when I played some Bach (but I'm sorry that it wasn't perfect!). The staff are very helpful -- for example, they printed out a google map for us to go to Beachy Head, they cheerfully advised us about transport to Brighton, etc. I really liked it. Some reviewers griped about the 5 pounds per day parking charge, and I agree that the hotel ought to make this clearer. Some people might find this hotel spartan, since there is little carpet in any of the reception areas, but since I hate carpet I really liked that aspect. I highly recommend the hotel, and very much enjoyed the experience. (3304507121)
The standard bedrooms, (those booked via your website) are on the second floor of what is a large old building, and involve climbing up a number of flights of stairs, some very steep. This is not mentioned anywhere in the publicity, and would prove a real problem to an elderly or infirm guest. The only alternative offered to us was a 'luxury' room on the first floor at a greatly increased price.
