Fine, would probaly revisit when in the location provided the price was similar and not at the price quoted to some of associates who enquired earlier.!!
(107780121)

It was very convenient and the booking process was very easy and quick. The room was clean, the food was slightly above average quality but the fillet steak was extortionately expensive!!

The bed was hard and covered with a plastic matress protector.

Upgraded.
Good meal in restaurant Friday evening
Comfortable bed
Little noise despite wedding disco being on

Sockets badly sited for using facilities such as hairdryer, clock, TV and kettel - all out of same one. Kettle had to be sited on floor.
Had to crequest drinks twice in restaurant. Saturday because of wedding asked to not sit at seats in bar as wedding guests may be returning to take th seats (in the half an hour we were they did not!)

On the website the rooms that are shown look really nice and the description sounds great. The room we were given was nothing like the description on the website.Although we enjoyed are stay because its a chance to get away for a night, the food was excellent .I dont want to start complaining and upsetting my partner thats why i never said anything at the time she does not like to cause a scene of which i told the manager when we left the hotel.I would recommend the hotel but not that room.

Good size rooms and bathroom, nice food.

English/understanding of the waitress and receptionist were poor. No single buisness rate for the room. Breakfast was poorly served and understood though actual food was nice.

ten out of ten. this place has plenty to keep you amused even on a rainy day. and if your into keeping fit then theres always the steam room, sauna and gym which are all free during your stay. its a place where anyone young or old would enjoy re-visiting time and time again.
(3305206012)

the room was cosy and clean, the whole place is just fantastic, all the staff made time to chat they were well presented and friendly, and the chef is to die for his dishes were just out of this world, every mouth full was heaven. this place would suit all ages, everything was amazing to look at, im actually cosidering taking my staff there for christmas dinner as there are some fantastic entertainment and dinner packages on over the festive season. and theres a talking point in the toilet, and the men do take longer in the toilets more than the women because of this, but anyone who reads this will just have to visit to find out what i mean, its brilliant, it made me and my husband laugh.

there is nothing to dislike about this hotel except the fact i didnt have enough money to stay longer.

Room was very nice. Good car parking. Food was nice.

The restaurant took last orders for dinner at 7.30pm which was too early since we didn't arrive until 6.45pm after a long journey, we would have liked to relax a bit before rushing down to eat. Additionally, the bed was too soft in our room.

We really enjoyed our short stay in the hotel, I certainly would book again for alonger stay. The staff were very friendly and nothing was any trouble to them. The meal we had in the restaurant was exceptional, portions were just right for our apetite, likewise with the breakfast. We didn't use he healthsuit facilities but would if staying for a longer period.
(3304338962)

A very minor problem with a light bulb and small heater needed to be rectified and a handyperson was not available so we were upgraded to a themed room which was fabulous.

There was an unpleasant smell in the reception area of the hotel which may have been due to the artexed walls. This could easily be rectified with some air fresheners dotted about the reception/bar area.

The hotel was extremely quiet with very little client activity - i prefer things to be a little busier and active - this was probably reflected in the apathy of the staff - waiting for the receptionist to finish reading a newspaper article before I could check out was one example of this.

We were given a free upgrade which as nice. The bed was huge and very comfortable.

The bathroom could do with some safety rails and a little more storage. The bar area is a little dark and forbidding. The chef tries a little too hard with the menu.
Alan from Linlithgow, United Kingdom;GB (Solo business traveller) 24 December 2005
A good hotel offering an above average standard of food and accomodation in it's class. The interior looks recently refurbished and has an Eastern feel. The lighting in the public areas is rather dull; I was there in December. Overall, good value for money. Surroundings are very attractive and would be more so in the summer.

I arrived very late (weather an traffic), but a telephone call prior to arrival ensured I was still expected. The staff are very friendly, smart and show great professionalism (they certainly could show a few higher * hotels a thing or two) in everything they did - basically, nothing was too much trouble. The menu looked superb (ubfortunately did not get to try because of commitments elsewhere), but there was nothing but positive feedback and praise from the foreign guests staying there at the same time as myself. Although not a drinker of the hard stuff, it was nice to see that, in addition to the normal beers, spirits etc, guest beers are also offered. Overall, the Croft, and especially it's staff, get a 5* rating from one very satisfied customer and I shall definately be returning.
(2834871)

The room was excellent. Great attention to detail with design, presentation and client comfort - A fantastic couple of nights sleep. If this was an 'ordinary' room, then the 'themed' rooms must have been spectacular (will have to try on a future visit).

None. There is some building work going on around the exterior of the hotel, but this does not 'disturb' the hotels main function. When completed, will only go to further improving future clients stays.

The Hotel has recently been 'done up' and has had a large sum spent on it - some more effective than others. The new bathroom equipment is so sophisticated that guests cannot find out how to put in the plug! The shower was excellent but the 'guard' made it difficult to get to the taps if you wanted a bath, unless you stood in it. Also there was not enough shelf space where it was needed. Also nowhere to put clothes.
The bedroom was 'different' and would have been comfortable if there had been more than one chair.
The breakfast was excellent but the web booking did not make it clear that it was an extra, which made the cost even more expensive.
The owner took on board and explained those 'grumbles' that we took up with him.

2 areas have room for improvement. I was travelling with elderley relatives and it would have been helpful to have a lift as they have difficulty climbing stairs, especially carrying anything.
We felt we were on generaly view to the road, as there was no netting or anything up at the windows apart from the main curtains, which had to be pulled when some privacy was needed, especially so in the bathroom as this window did not even have frosted glass.

This is a good place to stay for anyone visiting Darlington (10 minutes away) who prefers not to be in the city centre. It's comfortable and they try hard.
(2634270)

The hotel has been refurbished recently and the rooms are a cut above the average. Although we did not dine in the restautant, which is themed on the Raffles hotel, breakfast was excellent and I have no doubt dinner would be equally as good. Staff very friendly, typical of the area. It's probabl;y worth checking to see if there is a wedding reception planned which is not to everybody's taste.

Short term problem with access because of building works. No other issues.
M A from MILTON KEYNES, United Kingdom;GB (Solo business traveller) 15 August 2005
Nasty seventies refurb of a once-grand spa hotel, given a more recent refurb with some well-chosen furniture.
Booked in as I couldn't get into my usual place in Darlington. Despite appearances that the hotel was anything but fully booked, my room was the very last one at the very end of the longest corridor and overlooked the kitchen roof and fans. There was no workspace to put my laptop on.
The bath and basin plugs would not seal and despite my simple request for a spare sink plug, the handyman was called from his house to investigate. The problem was down to poor design of the plug assembly. In the hour that cost me, I could have driven to a DIY store and bought a plug!
Dinner and service in the bar area was excellent but despite one handpump being fitted, no real ale was available, which was disappointing.
Given its location, this hotel makes an excellent alternative for those needing to be near Scotch Corner.

Location, 'little extras' in room

Reception were expecting us and were very friendly & efficient. I would have arrived earlier had we known the latest time for food. Having seen the menu I am quite disappointed I managed to miss out! The room was superb with twin beds at I'm sure the size of doubles! Our bathroom was also excellent. The complimentary chocolates are gorgeous. The hotel is a doddle to find being actually on the A167. No problems parking my (large) van but that may change when the new houses at the back of the hotel are occupied. The next time we are at Croft race circuit we will be staying here.
