staff very good, first time in a b&b for years and think i would stick to a hotel next time, breakfast 1st class but not any real options to walk to for evening meal, evening meals ok. we were in top floor room and shower had no pressure at all and room felt small with 4 poster squeezed in. on reflection a bit on pricey side for facilitys although service very good. (97166666)

positive comments food very good, staff very attentive.
negative comments room small with inadequate shower and drinks expensive

William from Westgate-on-Sea, GB (Young couple) 19 March 2008

Hotel is in a good location with friendly and helpful owners. We knew the room (Dovedale) would be small as this was clearly stated on the website, it was very small but this wasn't a problem. The bathroom however was very disappointing and badly in need of reburbishment - leaking tap, cracked tiles, poor flooring. (97930097)

positive comments Friendly owners, good location.
negative comments Poor bathroom

Couldn't fault our visit to Lower Brook House. We stayed on a Tuesday night and were the only guests which we quite liked, having the place to ourselves. Lots of very tasteful attention to detail. Lovely food. (97106442)

The hotel is a charming abode, which is hidden away from the bustle of nearby Chipping Camden and Stow on Wold, operated by the pleasant owners in a traditonal country house setting. It provides an ideal opportunity to unwind from the work of being a tourist in what is an ever increasingly tourist destination. (99001847)

positive comments quaint, quiet and easy going
negative comments It was as expensive as other hotels but lack their facilities. Limited dinner menu and while quite good the service was not equal to the cook's efforts.

positive comments Fantastic B&B in a quaint story book village - exactly what you expect a trip to the cotswolds to be like. Lower brook house had the whole package.... plush accomodation, amazing service and food, gorgeous gardens, roaring fires in the evenings - can't fault a thing - will definitely be recommending it to my friends - perfect place for a romantic weekend away from london.

As a first timer at the hotel - we regarded it as a lucky hit. Olde Worlde and comfortable. Located in beautiful Cotswold countryside. The food was excellent at the 'hearty' breakfast - and hot (with fresh mustard mixed on request - always a good sign for me!). The dinner was superbly prepared (with a fine selection of wines). The quiet location assured a restful sleep. All the things you require for a get-away-from-it-all break. Thank you Lower Brook House. (99680928)

positive comments The host was very affable and friendly. The bed very very comfortable. The beautiful white damask at mealtimes underlies the quality of everything at this establishment. The different sets of salt and pepper at each table was delightfully eccentric - I had to resist the temptation to mix them up!

our room was small but clean and well furnished.the welcome was warm and the location is very central for all the cotswold places of interest. the communal areas are very informal and friendly, it was really easy to relax and feel at home. service was excellent with nothing being too much trouble.the food deserves a mention of it own. it was quite simply the best we have ever encountered.we had a lovely break at this hotel. Our two nights stay at the hotel was excellent in addition to the comments on the food, views etc. The staff were very helpful and polite with no fuss or bother. Would definitely recommend it, certainly for a short stay and most probably for a longer stay. (3304811994)

positive comments The food was excellent, the rooms adequate and kept clean & tidy. The view was very good from the window over gardens and hills in the distance.
negative comments No real dislikes.

A most welcoming and well managed family-run hotel. The views from the bedroom window were stunning and the gardens are delightful. A thoughtful little touch was the provision of binoculars to make the most of the vista! The breakfast was excellent and the dinner menu looked very tempting. Will have to come back and stay longer to sample this. (3304761777)

positive comments Wonderful views and excellent breakfast
negative comments A minor point only: although a hairdryer is provided, there were no sockets anywhere near the mirrors

The hotel was set in beautiful gardens and had lots of old world charm, the hosts were very helpful and even let us use their phone to make a call home. We were unaware that mobile phone reception in the area is very poor, but this information was given in the hotel room and there is a call box in the village. The village itself is very small and there are not many eating places, however the Crown Inn did serve good food. The accomodation is lovely, clean and very peaceful and we would certainly re visit (3304687422)

positive comments This is a lovely hotel with very good accommodation and friendly hosts. The room was clean with good en-suite facilities. The breakfast menu had a good selection and overall we really enjoyed our stay

ANDREW from LEEDS, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 10 April 2006

Very welcoming and friendly. As someone who travels and stays in chain hotels on a regular basis it was lovely to stay in a hotel with real charm and individuality. The views from our room (Daddylowe)were stunning. The choice of the buffett and cooked breakfast was very good and would meet everyones needs. Contrary to other reports there are 2 pubs in the village both within walking distance. (3304485181)

positive comments House and views and setting are fantastic

We were made to feel very welcome from start to finish of our stay and it fully measured up to our expectations and info on the internet, the landlord even tipped the winner of the 'Gold Cup'. (2695803)

positive comments The house, room, food and general family atmoshere.
negative comments Adequate hot shower in the Northwick room although this was identified by a note in the bathroom. Maybe look to a value break when the Cheltenham festival is on, with say packed lunch, transport etc.

John from Wadhurst, United Kingdom;GB (Group of adult friends) 16 March 2006

A charming property in a beautiful village. We were made most welcome by the proprietor and the attention to detail in the guest rooms and public rooms. The dining table was particularly carefully set, tea was promptly served and a fire lit for us in the drawing room. (3304269542)

positive comments Subtle furnishing in keeping with a delightful old house.

This obviously is not a problem for some people but mobile phone signals virtually none-existent in room / village. In my position this made the stay not as relaxing as it could have been and I feel this should be made known on the website. I feel also, although I coulnd't fault anything, I feel I have had better value for money in nearby hotels. (2734824)

positive comments Absolutely idyllic location and lovely rustic country house. The service was second to none.
negative comments The bathroom needed a little updating as, although perfectly acceptable, it did have 'well used' feel to it.

Our stay at Lower Brook met all our expectations. Small hotel, with tons of charm and wonderful helpful hosts. The food was simply fabulous (nettle soup, roastlamb, rhurbarb & honey creme brulee - really delicious)and the service first class. Additional assistance was offered with travel plans and arranging for a car, driver, & directions. Our host, was extraordinarily helpful and gracious.....we would definitely book again. Thanks for a wonderful few days and some terrific memories of Blockley (2077330)

positive comments The serenity and calm of a 17th century small hotel. Fabulous cuisine and wonderful hospitality thanks to hosts

A really lucky find. The only thing we would have welcomed knowing before our stay was that dinner would not be served that night as the menu was changing from winter to summer so we had to drive back into Chipping Campden. However, the host made an excellent recommendation, but we were disappointed not to be eating in-house. Our bedroom was most attractive with large, comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities, home made cookies, bottles of water and fresh fruit - all the things one would excpect from a more up-market hotel. Fluffy white towels and bath robes. Very good and welcoming atmosphere. (2081809)

positive comments Comfort, amenities and welcome. Location.
negative comments Small bathroom and very small shower. Not a very user-friendly hairdryer.

For the price that we paid we both felt that the room was poor.Even though we where in Mid Sept the room was cold at night. No heating was in operation. (to be fair though we never asked for the heating to switched on.)The saving grace was the superb breakfast. (1506106)

I have wanted to stay here for some time and I am delighted to say Lower Brook House exceeded my expectations. From check in to departure the service was relaxed but attentive. The room was cosy and was designed to feel more homely than a hotel room. The food is excellent, from an amazing spread at breakfast to a dinner that would put many restaurants to shame. Both menus are well thought out and the food is cooked to perfection. Again service is spot on, not too formal but very attentive and observant. I will definitely be returning to Lower Brook House. Lower Book house is a wonderful small hotel with an excellent restaurant and very friendly hosts. as an example of this, we ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay and on both occassions between cooking and tending to tables both our waiter and chef looked after our small baby to ensure we enjoyed our meals fully. great accommodation with excellent attention to detail and set in a beautiful part of the country, whatever the season.
