Spartan look of bedroom. Noise from courtyard very late into night.Double glazing would have elliminated some of this noise. Noise from above rooms would also have been less if rooms were carpeted. Bathroom and corridors extremely shabby.

Went to Southampton on 3 night cruise. Our train home meant we had 4 hours to carry round our suitcases. The hotel allowed us to leave our bags there.Excellent service! Nice clean room, a bit small but only there for one night.

Handy for train station, city centre & docks.

A bit slow checking us in.

After reading reviews of this hotel I was somewhat cautious about staying here. When we arrived however, I was pleasantly surprised by the reception and bar area which were clean and decorated to a good standard. The room however was none of these things. The only reason why I wasn't disappointed is that I was expecting worse. The room was one of the cheapest ones, but it is no excuse for the state of it, especially at

Bed was comfy and clean. The room was spacious.

The glove mural on the wall was creepy rather than contemporary and funky which I assume was the aim. The room whilst not dirty as such had a grubby feel to it with stains on the carpet and a leak from the shower in the bathroom which was causing limescale behind the bath taps.

Bed was very comfortable

a poor, dirty, run-down hotel cannot be hidden by a few cheap paintings

good location

Should have clean air in non-smoking room/area, the top floor area collect the most smoke over all from down stair (smoking area)

The hotel was great in terms of the simplicity of the rooms contrasting with the art work in them. The art work appears to vary significantly in each room and effect the character of the room greatly. The art in our room may have resulted in some people not wanting to stay.

The rooms were really interesting in terms of the art work. This made it stand out from other hotels but it may not be to everyones taste. The staff were really friendly and helpfull.

For the continental breakfast you had to be into sweet pastries and cakes. Some nice simple bread would have complimented the meats and cheeses better.

Inspite of the obvious issues all of these are fixable. The staff were great and quite fun. As most regular travellers know, even the best hotels slip up from time to time, and bearing this in mind none of the issues would prevent me from staying at the hotel again - if they will have me after reading my previous comments!

Modern, eclectic and cosmopolitan hotel offering great food, parking in a central and easy to find location. Fun, easygoing and very responsive staff who attended to my problems immediately and very satisfactorily

House keeping and general maintenance needs attention e.g. no water pressure in tap at all - still fearfully inadequate in the room I moved to where it was supposed to work. Funny window arrangement in the bathroom (I thought I might fall out or that people opposite might see my in the shower - not a pretty sight) - couldnt close it. Someone else's tide mark left in the bath - Ugh! Loads of noise from the pub.
