A pleasant overnight stay. Wish I'd had time to enjoy the hotel more.
(107543813)

Friendly, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Good, strong shower. Building full of character in delightful grounds.

Shower curtain clingy (in spite of the magnets sewn into the corners)! Expensive taxi into town (ever thought of a subsidised shuttle?).

we enjoyed our stay, great staff and lovely leisure facilities
(107150702)

leisure facilities were fabulous

bedroom decor was quite dated

Staff were friendly & helpful, no noise from evening wedding reception although we were on the other side of the hotel
(107147418)

The view from the window, it's away from the roads so is quiet, friendly staff,

Shower curtain wasn't long enough, no air con (if such things bother you), mattress in need of replacing

Heather from Northampton, GB (Solo leisure traveller) 15 May 2008
The approach via rhodadenron lined avenues was picturesque and relaxing. The staff were efficient and helpful yet not intrusive. The standard of accommodation (even in a single room) was excellent - so often you are put into a cupboard or made to feel a nuisance occupying a double room on single occupancy but I had a large room with a single bed in it with plenty of desk and wardrobe space, together with chair, coffee table and well stocked hospitality tray. Having an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe was an excellent touch. The restaurant meal, whilst expensive, was of a very high quality. I could not comment on the breakfast as I was fasting prior to an unpleasant hospital procedure but I am assured by other guests that it would have been excellent! The fitness studio and swimming pool looked as if they were good too but, once again, my hospital procedure precluded me from taking advantage of these facilities.

Chilworth Manor is a stylish hotel, and appearances outside were matched by those inside.

Nothing, I will definitely be booking to stay there again.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 24 April 2008
It would have been helpful had we of had more information on local places to eat, we felt the evening meal menu was rather expensive.
The leasure centre was very well equiped,we enjoyed being able to swim, however I would strongly recommend that people wear goggles as the water caused me to a lot of trouble with my eyes.

We thought the bar/lounge was in a lovely setting, the dinning room was extremely well managed by the manager and her staff, Reception staff were very helpful and polite.

the down fall was having to climb several flights of stairs to get to our room, next time would ask for a lower floor if poss.

Room was cold - storage heater used instead of radiator and it hadn't been turned on.

There was a wedding party and couple of Birthday parties over the weekend, and they used the main lounge as the meeting place and with 60/70 people in this area it was loud, not good for hotel guests.
Enjoyed The Club. (swimming pool)

clean tidy friendly staff with good english breakfast and the drive up to manor very impressive.

room on the small side but ok, mattress very soft not good for back sufferers. The table cloth on our table was dirty with jam stain on it.It was a shame that the pool was not attached to the hotel but the pool and everything else in it was brillliant.

The building was old and imposing, but the facilities modern and very clean. Fresh flannel every day. Tea and coffee replenished every day. Staff always there when you wanted someone - but not 'in your face' very relaxed feeling. Things done quickly.

Can't really think of anything

The rooms were nice with lovely views

The bathroom was unheated and the bar area was directly opposite the entrance and was rather draughty when eating meals. The first night I ate in the restaurant at a reasonable time but on the 2nd night I could not get booked until 8pm too late for me to eat so I ate in the bar, on asking what a seafood mezzaluna was noone seemed to know!

Spacious, clean and warm.

We would have preferred a duvet instead of blankets.
Anthony from Horsham, GB (Mature couple) 02 October 2007
Overall, a pleasant but expensive stay - the bar would not accept cash after a certain time so that we had to cover the costs of visitors who were willing to pay their own rounds. The final bill for one night, therefore, was much more than we had planned.
I would nonetheless recommend the hotel but warn friends to take account of likely further costs.
Staff very friendly and helpful throughout.
(97133153)

A quiet, relaxed experience, both inside and outside the hotel

Room a bit small for the price which was comparatively high. It was not helped by the mirror light in the bathroom not working (discovered too late for us to contact Reception) nor the radio channels on the TV system working
Anonymous (Family with young children) 09 August 2007
A fantastic building inside and out, the reception area/bar is stunning. Very helpfull staff and really good food. The grounds of the hotel are joined to a conservation area so there is loads to see outside. Also if anyone is staying with kids there are two skateparks just up the road.

(97443894)

Check in was quick and the lady was helpful in booking us a cab to get to the church. Breakfast was a good selection and service was quick, however they were busy and we don't need to hear the manager bein quite so disrespectful to his staff. It's pressured providing customer service however we don't need to see the staff looking stressed.

Check out took too long, only one person on reception and the queue was 5 deep.
Stephen from Exeter, GB (Mature couple) 17 July 2007
PERHAPS IT COULD BE BETTER SIGNED ALONG BOTH DIRECTIONS ON THE MAIN ROAD.

CLEAN AND VERY COMFORTABLE 1 WOULD RECOMMEND THE HOTEL TO ANYONE.

NOTHING.
Anonymous (Group of work colleagues) 10 July 2007
Beautiful setting and surroundings. Old part of hotel had character, but I am told the new part is similar to a travel lodge.
Didn't have a chance to use any of the many facilities due to the period of my stay.
Breakfast was good.
Only downside is that for the price, there should be free wireless hotspots. You aren't told that connection is chargeable on the website.

This is a very comfortable, friendly hotel with above average standards and superb grounds. As a lone visitor on this occasion, I did not feel uncomfortable to make use of the excellent lounge and restaurant due to the helpful, considerate staff. Although this hotel caters for many weddings at weekends every effort is made by the staff not to disrupt other guests during the day or evening. A hotel I will certainly use again.

Nothing. I did struggle to find it. Why is there no signpost on the right turn immediately into the hotel?
