I cheked in at bit late but that was no problem. I have only positive coments to the hotel and its staff. Thank you for a nice stay.

I realy enjoyed my stay at Skjaldbreyt. You feel that you are wellcome and the staff is always ready to help you. The breakfast is superb.

The tellevision did not work, but I could have told the staff about that.

Excellent experience and we will return :)

Front desk staff were all attentive, available, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious, and location was top notch!

Better lighting in rooms would be nice and the room was very small but yet sufficient.

Too noisy unless you plan to party all night.
(107106470)

Location - very good for my purpose to look at the designer shops in Rekjavik on our way home from vacation. We could easily rest at the hotel between shopping - it is in the middle of it all.

Location - difficult to stop for taxi and bus, no parking. Do not expect to sleep between midnight and early morning unless you bring earplugs. If not travelling with a child like I did, the best alternative is to join the party outside.

per essere un hotel a quattro stelle per il tipo di sestamazione e per il personale sembra un hotel a una stella camere molto piccole bagno lugubre e collegamento a internet assente .

Good rooom and a good bed is what counts, great location. Fix the other stuff and you get the fourth star again.

Keflavik airport some 50+km from the city center. Recommend Flybus service (1100 Krona one way) as taxis too expensive; will arrive at bus station and then transfer to mini-bus; myself I walked to the hotel in approx. 15 minutes from the bus terminal.
Attended the Cultural Festival and ran in the half-marathon. Would load up on food at breakfast buffet; buy lunch staples in grocery store, and then have a decent dinner meal.
Make use of the geothermal heated swimming pools in the city.
(3304659718)

Central location on main shopping street. Staff friendly and helpful in booking rental cars, etc. Hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to start of Reykjavik marathon course. Pleasant breakfast room.

Reykjavik is well known for its pubs and Icelanders like to yell! Recommend ear plugs as Vegamot bar and bistro (great food, atmosphere, friendly locals) is adjacent to hotel.

The town is very nice, clean and pretty. The people are very friendly. We stayed at this hotel overnight on our way back to the US from Europe. It was a pleasant rest stop which made the transition home less taxing.
(3304109406)

It was in a good location, close to restaurants and the city center. It had convenient and fast internet access. The sunroom/breakfast room was very pleasant. Breakfast was good.

The shuttle service to the bus station was unreliable but this was not the hotel's fault. Plan to leave for the airport with time to spare because the shuttle/bus process (which is affordable) will get you there but it takes about 1.5 hours.

They have internet access in the rooms. Great hotel and seemed to be cheaper than other Reykjavik options. Not quite up to US standards, but great for European standards.

Hotel correct, idéalement situé dans le centre de la ville, mais les chambres sur rue sont bruyantes en fin de semaine. Bon confort, même si les dimensions sont un peu restreintes, notamment pour la salle d'eau (pas de baignoire).

During the week this location is probably as good as it gets. Not the hotels fault, but food is very expensive, and this is from a traveler who had just left Paris.

Excellent location relative to the rest of town.

The pub crawl on Friday and Saturday nights (and mornings) are real and noisy.

Staff were really helpful particularly Sarah on reception she could not help enough arranging fruit basket for special occasion and local restuarant booking.
(1176144)

Sarah on the reception was more than helpful on many occasions and assisted with all enquiries

Outside noise and windows filthy but i'm aware you cannot resolve the first issue due to location and the bank holiday celebrations.

we so enjoyed our stay at this hotel that its really hard to find the right things to say. the location of the hotel is right there in the middle of the shopping and coffee and beer and water and beer and lights and food and music....and really, what else do you need?...except for the fact that being so close to the tourism spaces (we highly recommend the one beside cafe opera) makes it easy to select your very own day trips etc...bonus.
and the fly bus is easily booked at the reception desk.
the complimentary scandinavian breakfasts we partook of for 3 mornings.....were set up in a great breakfast location...lots of windows so that you could see what the weather looked like for the day...and lots of windows above you, so you that you could see what the weather was going to look like later on......the food was typical....anything you want in the northern european style.....granola/toast/yogurt/breads/cheese/meats/eggs/that is, no bacon and eggs, no pancakes etc...., they had it...of course they had coffee and tea and water also available all day in that summery room...
(1384879)

excellent breakfast, good location, excellent information available, stairs....inaccessible for wheelchairs.

no bad points

We had very good value for money with this internet deal. Everything is expensive in Iceland so we were fortunate to have found this deal for a central hotel that was clean, comfortable, and convenient. The hotel staff were very helpful and efficient in terms of offering us useful information and quick check-in/check-out process. All in, a good hotel for the location.
(1414467)

A very clean, functional hotel. Great location for short/overnight stays, close to all the main parts of the city.

The hotel was difficult to find. Unless you had a picture of the hotel, or knew what it looked like, or got out of the car and walked to the door, you wouldn't find it so easily. Given that it was on a relatively busy one-way street, parking outside the hotel was a little difficult. Having to park at a parking bay/car park was not convenient but there were quite a few parking spaces available so it wasn't a problem as such.

The hotel is well situated on the main shopping street, but the downside of this is late night noise from local bars/clubs, especially on Fridays. The rooms were adequate but small and some items poorly maintained, even after being reported. Staff were friendly and generally helpful. Breakfast was good, and the availability of all day complimentary tea and coffee was a bonus. Although it claimed to be 4*, it falls well short of other international 4* hotels in Europe and USA.
(1157781)

Good location, good breakfast, complimentary coffee available all day, nice atmosphere.

Small room, shower fittings not fitted correctly, fridge broken, late night noise from adjacent bars
