would stay again but not pay for breakfast and would make sure we had a shower in the room
(107371073)

entertainment very good, room ok but could be better

no shower in the room but they provided a shower mat why, bed was horrendous every time you moved it woke you up with a bad noise, and the breakfast was like eating cardboard no taste and rubbery eggs and we were one of the first for breakfast as i had to go to work left it so paid for something that quite frankly was inedible.was not asked if we wanted smoking or non smoking we dont sm,oke but was put in a smoking room,

For one night away from home to enjoy friend's company and do some shopping, it was perfectly acceptable. Left it too late to get a more bijoux hotel. The entertainment was pretty dire but that is a matter of taste and others appeared to be enjoying it. The rooms were pretty soundproof and even though there were loads of children we weren't aware of tv or other noise once we were in our room.
(107274864)

Affordable and quite large bedrooms. An acceptable hotel for families on low budgets or for a stop over night before going to France.

Public rooms huge and impersonal and in need of freshening up. Fixtures and fittings in bathrooms looking tired and old. Breakfast not very good - no continental style pastries or croissants.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 31 August 2008
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel, and would use this hotel again for a short break in Kent.
(107211356)

Nice view of the harbour from the window, the room was of a nice size, comfortably furnished and clean.

No realy bad points as such, my only comment is that some of the fittings and fixtures were looking a little tired, namely in the Bathroom, the plumbing did look a little as if it had been repaired cheaply, an overhaul on this room would make the bathroom a more pleasant place and raise the quality of the experience.

We had a great time during our stay at the hotel, everything we required was there. We don't think there was anything else we required to know about the Hotel as it was all there in the description. One thing we weren't told about was the noisy gulls, but we are sure there is nothing you can do about that! Great few days and lovely Hotel. My husband enjoyed seeing and visiting old haunts, as he was born in Folkestone. THANKS!

The Hotel is probably one of the nicest along the Kent coast, the food was absolutely fantastic and very plentiful, and the rooms are most comfortable.
If you want a romantic break you couldn't wish for a nicer place to spend your time.
We hope to go back on the Valentine Special

The view is spectacular from a premier room balcony, the bed is comfortable and everything is very clean. One of the best value treats we have ever had.

Our heated towel rail had been disconected, so the towels remained damp.

The reception staff were not friendly on booking in.
we had asked for a cot for our 21 month old baby and were informed on booking in (NOT on the initial booking) that they could provide a cot but NO bedding as it was against company policy.
We asked for the cot anyway and it still had not arrived by the morning of check out.
We had requested a non-smoking room but ended up with a very smelly smoking room.
The rooms were in need of a decoration. There was missing skirting boards, the bathroom had no shower, the room had a false ceiling and the tiles were dirty.
We had dinner in the restuarant (sorry back street cafe - plastic tables, chairs and a general feel of greasy spoon). On booking in we were told dinner was until 8.30. We sat down and started to eat the chicken soup offered, the chef(?) came up and asked if we had had main course yet as he wanted to clean away food (this was at 8.05).
The plates when we went to serve ourselves were all dirty!! (Along with those for coffee in the room). Breakfast was no better as the plates were still dirty.
If you want a quiet stay in Folkestone I suggest you find another hotel, this one was in the middle of 3 night spots and was incredibly noisy until about 2am.
The only good thing was that we had not paid full price for the rooms!

The information with regards to the hotel was very informative when we booked on-line. It is excellent value for money and when travelling to France we now prefer to stop over at the Grand Burstin the night before and enjoy a wonderful evenings entertainment, which has always been first class.

the accommodation is always clean, the entertainment is excellent, and value for money is excellent

The hotel is excellent if you are stopping over prior to going on a ferry from Dover. The condition of the room we stayed in however would put us off staying for a longer period of time. Other than the dated decor in the room the hotel was very good value for money.

As we only required a bed for the night prior to crossing the Channel, the aim was achieved. The hotel, however, appears to be geared to coach parties staying for specific entertainment. I'm sure that had we been seeking such a break it would have been quite good. Breakfast was not appetising, and seemed to have been cooked much earlier than when presented - it was buffet style which suits us, but as we ate early, it would be expected that the food was recently cooked. Payment is taken on arrival which is odd. Room accounts are not accepted without prior negotiation with the Reception desk.
Again this is inconvenient and leads to the conclusion that the hotel has had trouble in the past. Generally - a strange experience.
(99667626)

There was a caberet which was professional and good.

The actual room was adequate. The main bar was closed before 8pm, and the only other bar available was in the ballroom being used for Bingo. Some of the younger staff were less than helpful. The atmosphere was that of a working mens club. There was what appeared to be a fine resteraunt, but we did not seek a three course meal. An alternative was available, but was neither appealing nor welcoming.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 18 October 2006
I would have liked the choice of waiter service (at extra cost) as the candle lit dinner was not very romantic as it was still self service and a little hectic.
(3305481045)

Large room, good view and two chairs with table, plentiful good food, friendly helpful staff.

Small television with limited channels, shower in bath, shower not thermostatically controlled, torn mattress base and marks on carpet.
