Wiould definitely stay there again but would book independently and not through the agent.

very friendly staff, very clean room, lovely breakfast.

when booking the room I was keen to stress we required a DOUBLE room not a twin room, upon arrival we had been allocated a twin room as the booking agent had not passed on the requirement, This was a real inconvenience and somewhat marred our enjoyment.

It was a nice character building. cosy

the room was at the front on the street and it was noisy there was also a lot of noise from a banging door late afternoon early evening from the pub below.

We were staying for a couple of nights for me to visit my grandmother's birthplace. Someone was showing us around Murston, etc. I also wanted to stay in an English village/town. We hadn't considered stairs but there was no alternative. The person who checked us in did help a bit with my suitcase, but it was pretty heavy even for her. She said something about her shoulder. Hope it didn't do her any harm. I managed to get them down the stairs myself when we left. A young man took them from the bottom of the stairs to the reception. My husband has been dealing with cancer and should not have been dragging the suitcases while I have a bad lower back. Plus the lugging from train station and back, where there was no elevator, and stairs again. As I said, nothing you can do about it.
(99465417)

Comfortable bed, large washroom (toilet); fantastic shower; amazing breakfast.

Nothing you can do anything about. We had to get our luggage up a flight of stairs after travelling for a month. Neither of us should have been doing it. They were very heavy.

Overall the night's stay was very enjoyable: nice bedroom, spacious bathroom, nice character property, very central location (right opposite the restaurant we had booked for dinner), friendly staff, excellent beer, even Miles Davis as background musak, easily booked by internet, reasonable price. Just a pity about the lack of attention to the problems in the bathroom: not easy to forget or forgive the stink of cigarette ash from a soap dish.
(99860761)

Good size main room, very large bathroom, comfortable bed.

Two aspects of the bathroom: the shower head was cracked, causing the shower water to spray fiercely all over the place, including onto the ceiling (where it had over a period of time removed the paint from the ceiling) and as far as the toilet pan; secondly, the soap dish next to the bath had the encrusted remains of cigarette ash in it, which smelled badly, which was really unpleasant. Both of these problems were obviously not new and should have been dealt with long ago.

The accomodation was fine - exactly what we needed for our break. There was a nice choice for breakfast and everything was fresh and well cooked, as was the evening meal.
We were given good information when booking on-line, so we were not disappointed - we chose a good hotel in an ideal location.

Ideal for a weekend break. The Hotel room was large with plenty of room to move and the bathroom was excellent - lots of hot water and a powerful shower.

Absolutely phenomenal service provided by Sue Coughlan and her staff. I can not recommend the Sun Inn more highly! The accomodations were perfect, food was great and the service was outstanding. I will definitely stay there again the next time I am in Kent.

As I was only staying for one night I probably didn't appreciate the comfort of the room and the hospitality of the pub area. The quality of the room was a pleasant suprise - better than some four star hotels I have stayed in on business.
(3304109397)

Well positioned, close to rail station and ameneties. Room was very well appointed, clean and very comfortable with a good sized bathroom and coffe/tea facilities. Good range of local guide leaflets available.

Non really, a well presented and well kept 'pub with beds'

If I had realised that it is an old building above a pub instead of purpose built hotel room, perhaps in an annexe, I would have booked elsewhere. Sorry to sound so negative but the days of under cooled hotel rooms with creaky floor boards are nearly over. I want a homogenous, boring and predictable hotel room to ensure a good night's sleep. On the other hand I know your people are trying hard with the facilities available and would not wish to knock them.

Nice bathroom, room cramped but fine, friendly staff

Noise. Noise from room below (music too much bass), faulty water pump on central heating (apparently reported by staff but ignored by brewery), extractor fan noise below my head. Hardly noticeable during the day, amazingly intrusive at 4am such that I had to wear earplugs.
george from torrington, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 10 November 2005
location excellent, very olde world pub full of character, staff very friendly, but when reported shower head we were told we should have been warned about this. Not what one expects to be told.

Such a smooth stay from arrival at Satuday lunchtime to departure Sunday morning. I walked from rail station to the hotel in about 10 minutes so don't know about parking facilities. There were always friendly staff immediately on hand to see to my check-in, requests for info, breakfast next morning (the Kentish breakfast was excellent) and departure. Not a single point to ponder on in any way, so extremely satisfied all round.

The Sun Inn is a large pub rather than a hotel; it is an old building that has been added to over many years. It is a comfortable, friendly place, with very good food and drink (Shepherd Neame, and I will very probably use it again.
