Orles Barn

The owners Danny and Jennifer made us feel very welcome.We liked the fact that we were taken through the menu so that we understood what we would be eating.The food is terrific.The pool was wonderful as it was so hot.The hotel is graded 2star,but we have stayed in 4star hotels that would struggle to meet the standards of the Orles Barn.A wonderful experience and can't wait to return. You must stay at the Orle's Barn Hotel! The owners are very warm and friendly. They clearly enjoy running the hotel and enjoy the guests. The hotel was comforable warm and clean. The accomodation may not have 5 stars but the food served certainally deserves 5 stars. The owners have a real passion for the food they serve. They have excellent local english food/produce and vegeterian options but they specialise in South African game and fish. I was a little uncomfortable with the thought that I might be eating endangered species, however I was very much reasured by the owner that the very reason they were on the menu was to because they were in too great a supply. The meat comes from the South African national parks and is culled by the park wardens to prevent over population. The profits from the sale of the meat goes back into the parks and used for conservation work. I look forward to going back in the summer when the owners often BBQ's the meat. For what you get the food is excellent value for money. Other resteraunts would have charged twice the price. (3304409150)

Very friendly and welcoming and great value for money.

Bathroom in need of updating (minor issue). Television reception was poor in our room (again minor issue). Room was a little too warm so it would have been nice to have had the option of a thinner duvet (admittedly the weather got a lot warmer that day and the existing duvet would have been fine for previous nights)

The 3 main selling points of this hotel for me were its friendly and helpful staff staff,(the waiter was especially good), its excellent cuisine, and the open fire. However, the place could use re-decoration, and a no smoking policy. (3304320783)

The lounge area was spacious but cosy with an excellent real fire. Dining area was again spacious and comfortable.

General decor of the whole building could do with an up-lift. Also, not impressed by the female owner 'dressing down' the waiter in front of customers while he was getting a customer his drink on the first night.

Some areas need cosmetic touches like the En-suite. The shower tray had been resealed but could have been done more professionally.The bedroom although very comfortable was a little cramped and thought was too cluttered. Apart from the above our stay was excellent and the food was second to none. (2603814)

Quiet, comfort, nothing was too much trouble for staff and had a peaceful and relaxing weekend.

Outdoor swimming pool needs some attention.
