Conveniently located

Food is below standards expected. Room service food is 'cool' upon arrival in the room.

A very short stay, one night to attend a wedding at the hotel, however everything I could have needed after a very long journey was at my fingertips on arrival, including a smoked salmon starter, I thought I would have a small snack to keep me going until reception time. When my 'snack' arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the portion, but thankfully was up to the task! (107184716)

Large room, comfortably furnished and has a finished, comfortable feel to it. Bathroom spotlessly clean. Space to spread out and relax.

The only bad point would be noise from the hallway - there was poor sound proofing around the door area and consequently you could hear people talking etc as they walked past.

Have to go outside to reach the spa and leisure facilities. Not a problem in summer but not so good in winter. Dangerous jacuzzi-when the bubbles are working you cannot see where the step down is and as there is no hand rail to hold on to it is DANGEROUS-a real safety matter. BEWARE

Loved the colour scheme, room had everything I needed.

Shower head had only 1 direction....everywhere. So bathroom got very wet.

The hotel was excellent for our purposes. The room was comfortable and quiet, and staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to find access to the running trail through the golf course, although this was not mentioned anywhere in the literature. Also the adjacent woodlands which extended to Broughton and beyond were excellent for running and walking. (97316613)

The hotel delivered everything I expected it to, as seen beforehand on their website. A very professional experience throughout with clearly well trained & caring staff - the breakfast 'team' were really excellent from Manager to staff. My only concern was the level of room noise which made me adopt my earplugs, this was particularly concerning as the primary purpose of a hotel for me is to actually be able to sleep well. The hotel location was ideal for easy access from the motorway to and from the town, with ample parking (not always easy in some city hotels). Loved the restaurant facilities (made breakfast & dinner very simple & quick), also great to have the swimming pool on site.

My room although positioned on 2nd floor appeared a quiet location, however was constantly disturbed by 'mechanical noise (heating or air system?), also biggest gripe you constantly hear other room doors closing loudly - doors appear to have hydraulic closers however have lack of 'cushion seals' to stop the 'wood on wood' clunk. (other top hotels I have used in Europe have their doors better protected against this noise). I also found the bathroom sink far too low (but I am 6'5), and also a bit small (the large tap blocked a lot of access).

The evening meal we had in the restaurant was very disappointing and not at all what we would expect in a 4 star hotel. We did make a complaint to the restaurant manager who did agree with us. As the hotel is sited a few miles from town it would put us off returning. (97114394)

Overall it was excellent but a couple of things worthy of mention - Bed was too firm; chips served as room service were cold and soggy and should never have been let out of the kitchen - that said the complaint was dealt with promptly and the bill adjusted; TV frequently changed channels of it's own accord; room service menu could be much improved with a greater variety of choice; restaurant menu didn't inspire us to eat there and we felt we had to find somewhere mid-range away from the hotel. Large light airy reception area and restuarant. Wonderful leisure centre including facilities for manicure etc. Superb golf course including practise range. Very pleasant staff and lastly superb good sized rooms. As I stay overnight prior to a busy working day all these things allow me to completely unwind ready for next day. Food in the hotel is a disaster, eat on my first night in the bar/dining room attached to the golf club, unfortunately it had just opened same day . Staff were at sixes and sevens, no one appeared to know what they were supposed to be doing and the managers on the scene did not help either. I ordered a simple haddock and chips from the menu, the meal was barely edible. But , since it was the first day open it can only improve. All of the staff were nice and polite - but the food was awful. Dined on my second night in the main hotel restaurant - food was just about adequate - no stars for quality.

The staff were very friendly and helpfull, the food was as good as Ive had anywhere,the cleanliness of the hotel was first class. I am just sorry I did not get the chance to play golf as the course looked stunning.Will visit for pleasure next time. (99169754)

The heat in our room did not turn on until the morning of the day we checked out. We informed the hotel front desk and the only person who came to our room was the nice the bell hop instead of an engineer. Staff was informed several times of this problem.
