Very poor

One member of staff was very helpfull after room debacle

the first key we were given opened a room door where there were already occupants. the second key to the second room also had people in it. We then waited 30 minutes to be allocated a room. while we were waiting other people were checking in and being allocated a room which I presume was vacant. The receptionist was very offhand with us as if the problem was caused by us. The next day she apologised and explained what the problem had been. All too late as we were left angry and frustrated. The breakfast was basic to say the least. another annoyance was noisy people in the room next door. The night poreter did sort it out after we complained.

I really thought the price was excellent and enjoyed the hotel character. We would stay at the Devonshire again.

Location was perfect for our purposes - within 10 mins. walk of many restaurants, the famed Kelvingrove Museum, a lovely walk through Kelvingrove Park to Glasgow University's Hunterian Museum which includes 'The Mackintosh House'. Also within 15-20 mins. walking distance to more central Sachiehill pedestrian shopping/eating/pub district, and maybe 30 min walk to central railway station. If you're looking for traditional Scottish cuisine, can recommend Blas restaurant which was right across from the main entrance of the Kelvingrove Museum (10 min walk) - lovely ambience, nicely designed, delicious food and knowledgeable staff. 'Blas' means taste in Gaelic. (lamb stew and venison were excellent, cheesecake was actually cheesy not sweet - wonderful)

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Room nicely furnished and fairly spacious with good amenities (shampoo, gel, heated towel rack, tea/coffee). Front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast and parking included. Great location near park, museums, restaurants and shopping.

Size of double room bed was not specified on web site - would have preferred the king size bed as opposed to two singles if I had known this was an option (one of the couples had a king size bed in our booking). There was a bit of mould on the walls of the shower.

Central to town and close to SECC
Anonymous (Mature couple) 27 March 2007
Hotel was used for one night stay and found the facilities adequate. Hotel is a bit dated and could do with some decoration and upgrade. Room was clean. Close to the SECC about 15 minutes walk. Car park at rear.

Location

Thin walls. Very noisy, builders starting early in the morning, other guests running around the corridor shouting at night, people slamming of doors constantly, dirty towels being put back in the bathroom.

Convenience to the exhibition centre, however a distance from the bus station if on foot.

smallness of the double bedded room
Anonymous (Group of adult friends) 05 December 2006
I needed a hotel that was close to the Scottish Exhibition Centre and this hotel fitted the bill. As the party included three people I also needed a hotel that was reasonable for a single person and this hotel fitted the bill. It was good value for money.

the room was a decent size, clean with all the things that are necessary

the soap and shampoo dispensers were not full. There are problems bringing toiletries on planes so I relied on the hotel and the dispenser was empty

Very simple access to the booking process online, a most welcome reception upon arrival and for peace of mind a CCTV secure car park. Social area was open late so as to acommodate late comers returning from evening events in the city. All in all most enjoyable and we will return. Almost forgot, lovely Breakfast.
