The hotel is bit tired and basic but the staff were friendly and attentive, although they seemed under resourced. Unfortunately there was no hot water - it is believed the bad weather caused the boiler to malfunction. However, the meals were good so overall the stay represented value for money. (97021916)

It was Ideally located for the area we needed to be for a evening concert

'Full English' didn't do justice to the excellent choice of breakfast included. My wife chose the 'Egg Benedict' and I enjoyed the kippers. Fortunately the offending fruit machines were switched off at breakfast time and we would probably have enjoyed an evening meal here had we not been put off by the flashing lights! I have stayed at the hotel priviously and knew what to expect. If other hotels were available at a similar or shorter distance to my end location, offering better service, larger rooms and better business traverling facilities, I would probably use these facilities! (97326802)

I thought generally it was okay for an overnight stay but the room was very dark and gloomy as the window had frosted glass on account of it overlooking a shaft - very depressing. It was very expensive relative to other rooms eg (99912620)

The bed was firm.

The room overlooked the fire escape shaft and rusty guttering. Water leaked through the extractor fan in the bathroom. The hairdryer was missing but the staff did provide one very quickly.

A greater selection of vegetarian meals would be appreciated. Also a separate bar/lounge for residents. The staff were very helpful and courteous. (99057391)

The bedroom was very nicely decorated and very clean. Breakfast was excellent.

Unfortunately, the balcony had not been swept and was rather messy and the exterior of the hotel seemed in need of a good sweep too.

Overall the accomodation was comparable if not better than that offered in Brighton, and the location of the hotel was well served by public transport to travel to all the surrounding areas. No complaints, everything as explained when booking. (3304592544)

This room was not cleaned properly.The cups were dirty,thick dust on ledges on the pictures and wooden rail on wall,paper on the floor behind TV. It looked as if the main dresser and TV were wiped but the whole room not addressed. All rooms with balconies should have the same furniture, ie Table and two chairs. Not some with less. You were issued with one showergel per couple. We were told it is Company policy to issue one bottle and save on wastage. Bed linen and towels were left in corridor opposite our door when we arrived (3.00pm)It was still there after breakfast the next day when we went out. The toast was thick bread one day and thin sandwich type the following day. The croissants were heavy. When we ordered our meal it was brought with the wrong potatoes, which was changed and then the apple pie came with custard not ice cream as ordered. You would expect the place to be clean and minor repairs to wallpaper to be in the general up-keep of a hotel. The bathroom gels and soaps plus the bread used for toast is a quality issue and this hotel choose cheapest. The staff tried to put things right but we were left with the image of what a superb situation for a hotel, What a shame about the stay (3304743794)

On first sight the hotel looked a bit shabby from the outside, but we were very pleased with the standard of accommodation. Well decorated rooms, good clean tiled bathroom that looked like it had recently been refurbished, with excellent shower. Our sea view room had a small balcony, which would be great in good weather. Plenty of choice of good food at breakfast, with very helpful staff and management. Food in the hotel restaurant was average - I recommend the pub opposite for a meal. The location is good, with ample free parking. It can be a bit noisy at night depending on what the local kids are up to, but we have already booked again here. (3304424563)

The White Horse is convienient to the South East for touring day trips. It is an easy drive from Dover in the east to Stone Henge in the west. Only a limited number of ocean front view rooms are available. Rooms to the land side have road noise into the evening and early morning. (3304244719)

As the hotel is part of a pub I found the general atmosphere quite smokey the restaurant area needs better ventilation. Food was good and staff friendly. As a single business traveller, the room was more than adequate. However, the room was a little claustrophobic as it was on the inside of the hotel with a window out on to four walls and a fire escape. I would not have wished to spend more than one night in that particular room. (2829726)
