King's Hotel

Absolutely abysmal. The place is falling down, and the best thing the owners can do is demolish it. (108061561)

This hotal is a Grade A dump! We wouldn't stay in this - or on the basis of this experience, any other Cairn hotel - EVER again. We travel extensively (in the USA, UK and Europe) & can safely say this is the WORST hotel we have ever stayed in. It makes Fawlty Towers seems like the Ritz.

I found out all I needed to know from the website, and the Hotel more than fulfilled expectation. The helpful friendly staff are a credit to the place. I will stay there if visiting Darlington again. (97503402)

Central position but quiet and peaceful, comfortable bed, spotlessly clean, friendly & helpful staff at all times, food good.

Lift out of order due to refurbishment & room was on 3rd floor. Wish I had asked for room on lower floor, as have arthritis in knees and back.

I felt the hotel was in need of refurbishment. The furniture was poor quality and the decor was dull and dated. The bed was comfortable but the room we had (on the front overlooking the town square) was home to pigeons and we found this noisy. Restaurant was very good as was the full english breakfast, no complaints there. (99548517)
