We were able to just come and go as we pleased. As it was a break away it was nice to just stay in our rooms and chill out or go swimming any time. The staff were very helpfull when we were looking to go out and have fun.

Excellent swimming pool and general cleanliness of the hotel was kept to a good standard. The food in the restaurant was to an excellent standard for what I was expecting.

Children running up and down the corridor till 1:30 in the morning screaming and were not asked to keep it down.

Good food and fairly priced in the restaurant, room cleaned daily and fresh towels given daily. We got a very good deal on the internet for this hotel we were going to Alton Towers and this hotel was perfect for that only 10 mins from Alton towers.

The receptionist on arrival was rude didn't stand up to great us and said yes? She handed us the keys didn't explain anything else and had to find room for ourselves!

Having booked a non-smoking quite room we arrived to find that the room was clearly a smoking room and it was located on the ground floor right next to reception. (very noisy) We complained and was allocated a room on the 1st floor which was okay. (99724918)

I would not recommend eating in this hotel. In addition, the room we were given was right over the reception and entrance area and it was very noisy for most of the night. Perhaps these rooms should not be used or be offered at a discounted price. (3305035813)

The hotel was well situated and easy to find.

In my view this accommodation was overpriced for what you got. We opted to have dinner in the hotel, but were very disappointed. The dining area was very sparce and the meals very expensive. I felt like we did not get good service when eating in the dining room and the food was very plain and over priced. It appeared that as a smaller party of 2 we received much less attention than larger parties that were also dining.

We enjoyed the good value bar meals and reasonably priced wine but thought the Bistro 209 offering expensive and pretentious. On both mornings we left early and missed breakfast, in order to travel in the cooler part of the day. I would have liked to have known that the hotel was a considerable walk from the pubs etc in the centre of Ashbourne. (3304858638)

Dated appearance of the en-suite facilities

Smallish room - this was fine for our stay, which was short. if this had been a longer stay or holiday, it may have become claustrophobic. However, having only seen the one room, I cannot judge whether this is typical of other rooms in the hotel. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly, without being over familiar.
