the treetops suite was just lovely, we could not believe it. we loved the creaky floors and old bannisters. the hotel was perfectly situated and really great, we would come again.

Central

Rooms cold needd to ask for a fire
They are really a pub that is trying to be a hotel
I booked this on the basis that it would be as good as others in the innkeeper group and it by far not
Peter from Bristol, GB (Solo leisure traveller) 16 November 2008
The people who were working at the hotel did a great job and were very helpful.
(107920897)

good location

The door of the room has a big gap at the floor, this let noise and cold through
The hotel looked in need of a lick of paint, it was quite shabby.

Again very nice staff who understood my annoyance but thought that I would have been told on the phone of the night club before hand
(107987356)

Staff were very polite

Phoned and booked the room on the saturday when I got there I was told that every Sat they have a nightclub and it ends at two in the morning, I was not told this otherwise I would have tried to get in somewhere else. All the clubbers finnally went at around four. I would have had a better nights sleep in the back of my car.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Although it was advertised, the night club is not condusive to a completely satisfactory overnight visits.
Anonymous (Solo leisure traveller) 28 July 2008
Considering the price charged compared to some of the larger hotel chains, it represents very poor value for money.
(108088345)

It has a nice breakfast room.

It is very noisy being in the town centre. At weekends also it has a nightclub so do not expect to get to sleep until well into the early hours. It also adjacent to other clubs so there is noise even on week days. The curtains wouldn't draw and the window wouldn't open which, as it was hot, made the room suffocating. Satellite TV channels are very limited. Usual shortage of coat hangers.
jackie from newbury, GB (Mature couple) 22 July 2008
lovely room and good food wrong choice of hotel for me, great for youngsters who want to party hard and just want to get a few hours sleep.
(108049573)

The room was lovely, and breakfast was good.

There was no formal greeting, had to look for a member of staff behind the bar so we could book in. the disco and outside noise meant no sleep till 3.30.
Sonja from Telford, GB (Mature couple) 30 June 2008
Would not stay there again.

the hotel is in need of sum repair , windows , also cudent open the windows even though it ws a very warm day ,as there ws more than enough pigons living on the roof just outside my window , the disco which ws on , i visited with my daughters , and may i say they ws a very serious health hazard , they ws filthy . and toilet blood staind toilet tissue all over the wash basins and floors . totaly disgusting.

On checking in, the receptionist told me âThis place is like Fawlty Towersâ
(97791743)

Large, newly decorated room, excellent shower, 32 inch plasma TV on the wall

TV is useless - Surely it must have occurred to someone that the TV needs an aerial feed!
No front door key so I couldn't leave the hotel at all between 11pm and 7:30am even if I wanted to.
Told to leave key at reception when going out, as they only have 1 copy.
Staff have no decision making authority whatsoever and even the smallest question needs a telephone call to the absent manager (who, judging from my experience, couldn't run a bath, let alone a hotel). Consequently, customer service is at an all-time low here.
Things disappearing from my room during the day (from the table, not in the rubbish bin!)

Door Wouldn`t lock properly, shower curtain was too short and kept on wrapping itself arround you, hotel was really run down and needed a major face lift, and all that for £75, way over priced.

Very pleased with Danebury Hotel. Warm welcome, helpful staff. Room well equipped and very, very clean. Food a pleasant surprise. The pizzas were made to order and very generously topped. Breakfast one of the best we have found in UK hotels. We would certainly say at Danebury Hotel again. It was market day and we expected some noise from this being set up outside but it was very quiet. However we stayed on a Wednesday night but possibly it would be noisy on a Friday or Saturday night due to variousfunctions and parties the hotel hosts.

it was not the noise of the night club on the premises it was the racket the revellers on the street produced.

Although there was a Disco in the evening, we were told about this before we booked, when we booked, and when we checked in.This was not a problem at all and did not disturb us. The only thing wrong was the remote control was missing for the television but as soon as we reported it they brought another TV and remote control. We have no complaints and would stay there again. I would also like to say that all of the staff were very helpful and pleasent.

Room:-
Unbearably hot and airless due to windows being sealed closed. Window blinds were poorly fitted unable to conceal Hotel and street lighting all night long. Bedding was heavy and unable to be used not even a sheet. Floor boards were so old they were noisy with every footstep.
Bar:-
Shaddy,unwelcoming atmossphere poor service.
Restaurant:-
Shabby, lacking atmosphere. Dinner very poorly presented and below convenience quality. Breakfast hopeless, quality of cooking unacceptabley poor, one slice of toast served between two people? and were informed 'we do not serve marmalade'
Conclusion:-
Thank you but no thank you, never again.

Central location

This is no more than a pub with rooms. The downstairs is a drinking bar aimed at young people only. Thankfully the disco was not in operation as it would have been unbearable. The floorboards in the bedroom creaked so badly that any one staying below would have had a very sleepless night. The general air of the hotel was low quality and dirty.

This hotel is perfectly adequate for an overnight business stay. It is an old building and some parts could do with a tidy up. Overall, it was really good value for money and I would use it again.

We would liked to have known that the hotel was being refurbished at the time of our visit. We would have liked to have been told that the restaurant was not open when we checked in insteadof having to ask. We were not shown to the room, but merely given directions to find the room ourselves.

Quiet

Restaurant not open so unable to have dinner. The extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy and lasted for a long time.

Nothing to complain! just wanted to suggest that the shower curtain our room could be a little bit longer as the water got onto the floor a little.
