Best Western Sea Hotel

although the breakfast in the hotel was not bad, it was not friendly towards older people, lack of lifts and lack of willingness to help with luggage. It was extremely noisy, as there was no proper airconditioning in the rooms so you were forced to open windows, which brought all the noise in from the fairground situated behind the hotel. I would not have booked the hotel had I known about its situation. The dinner was pretty dismal, the chef d'hote was bordering on rudeness, dinner was not freshly cooked, basically very overpriced for what it was. (97552559)

the hotel was just outside the shopping area, and near the beach

nowhere had I been informed that the hotel had a huge fairground behind it, as I was travelling with my 85 year old mother, it was not successfull..Furthermore the hotel did not have a lift for her and we were in a smoking room, when I specifically asked for non smoking even at the reception

i enjoyed my stay very much,but as i work very hard all the time i would like to be served by people who although dont want to be in work on a bank holiday are able to make an effort to hide it.All of your other staff were very helpful happy and smiling from the cleaning staff upto the reception staff and made me feel welcome and comfortable (99947346)

the location of the hotel was fantastic the rooms were comfortable abd clean

the staff at breakfast could not raise a smile i know it was a bank holiday but the two young staff who served breakfast certainly did not hide the fact that they did not want to be there

Reception were welcoming and helpful in providing map of town. Handy for the beach and for walking into town where we were working the following day. Breakfast was delivered to the room on time and freshly prepared. Tv a bit small but worked fine. The only real problems we had were space (small twin room) and heat (very warm weather and cramped room plus noisy freestanding airconditioner made it rather uncomfortable and didn't help us to sleep). We did have a fan too so that helped! Hotel clean and tidy but feels dated and could do with modernising and refurbishing.Not much choice of hotels in South Shields so would be happy to stay again. Clean, tidy, near the sea, option to have breakfast in room

Cramped room, inadequate cooling (old airconditioner seemed to warm as much as cool and was noisy), shower temperature fluctuated from cold to very hot.
