Jaccuzi not working on the Friday evening and very young children in the pool at 9pm when I wanted to have a swim. Changing rooms for pool were dirty - old tissues and wet towels on the floor. No top up of basic refeshments in room for second night of stay - rather mean considering the cost of the room! Would have been better value for money if hotel had included breakfast in the price.

It was in a perfect location for the city centre. It was easy to book it online, and I found all the inforation I needed about the hotel. I found it good vaule for money on the website I booked in on. Next time I come to Exeter I will definately stay in the Southgate again. We had a fanatstic time. (97931405)

The MacDonald Southgate in Exeter has an oldy worldy feel, with discreet service. It's like staying at a Georgian Manor, comfy, cosy and quiet enough to be relaxing. The pool is of a decent size and never too busy to the point that you won't have enough room to swim. The check in and out is dealt with in an efficient and polite manor, by staff who are more than helpful. The only let down to this hotel is room service, it's of a below par standard, but if an issue arises then it is dealt with promptly and efficiently. Nothing is just left or ignored, the guest(s) are of the upmost importance to the staff and a pleasant experience is what they'd most like you to have. I would recmomend this hotel to other people and will definitely be staying there again. (99912571)

Very good hotel, would recommend to anyone staying in the Exeter area. My colleagues also stayed in the Exeter area but stayed in another hotel (no names) which was priced at around the same level per night but which appeared to be very inferior in prsentation and facilities (no wireless network access in your room for example).
