We booked online and printed out the confirmation. A few hours later you rang us to say you only actually had a compromise room as all of the twin bedded rooms were booked. In fact, the accommodation was absolutely fine but it did leave us wondering if we should have cancelled and gone elsewhere. A computer problem, I guess! For us, car parking was a condition as my wife has a hip problem and finds walking difficult. Your information did not really make it clear that you have ample parking facilities and because of this I specified at the time of booking that it was conditional on parking. I need not have bothered. The point is, one spends time weighing the pros & cons before taking a final decision, so what one looks for is simple, clear and truthful information. We enjoyed our stay and would come again. (97649568)

I thought the idea of the smokery was excellent and it was well covered in order to keep from rain and fairly comfortable. I loved the quirky look and feel of the hotel which gave it alot of character. The close locality to the village was excellent and gave a choice to go for a wonder and not have to drive. Inefficient check in in that girl took request for wake-up call and failed to do it.Shower slightly confusing to operate, so ended up stepping out quickly when ran too hot and slipped €on very slippery lino and banged my head.No serious injury thankfully and was well attended to by one of managers(who had medical knowledge).

I booked the hotel true a number in the Cheltenham book we get each year and as Jim and our friend left it late to find a place in cheltenham as they are race goers we found your hotel and very pleased that we did.When we booked we were sent a rute map on how to find the hotel that was a great help we also found the distance to the races no problem.So expect to see us again in March 2008.We knew nothing about the hotel so we took it on speck and we well pleased that we did. It was like any good hotel should be like the room was excellent kept very clean,the staff were very helpful and plesent service at meals excellent and a menu to suit every tast.

The upgrade room in the anexe was spacious with a lovely outlook and very quiet.

We were disappointed that an upgraded room did not have a bath but we discovered there was one immediately next door at the end of the landing so not a disaster.

The hotel was in a lovely location by the river. The rooms were spacious, we had a superior double room which looked out onto the river.The food in the bistro was excellent with a varied menu and the staff were friendly and helpful. There were even performing ducks in the river which were very entertaining. Would definately stay again and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. (99869038)

The hotel was nicely situated for our needs - and the room was large and had a nice view over the river and waterfall. We did not think that the reception staff were overly helpful - when checking out he was on the telephone and no one offered help with our bags when we arrived. The breakfast was delicious and staff very helpful. On the whole we thought it was slightly expensive for what it was. (99497494)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners have done a terrific job of refitting the old mill while retaining lots of its original character. Particular highspots for us were the terrace overlooking the mill race and the restaurant, with the two exposed mill wheels (if only they could get those moving !) We actually dined in the restaurant every night of our stay (something we very rarely do), as the food, service and friendlinesss of the staff were all exceptional. A great base to explore the Cotswolds and very good value for money. (99773411)

The room allocated initally had a problem with the bath/shower, in that there was no hot water due to some malfunction of the hot/cold water valve?. The second room had an air extractor fan which was noisy and seemed to run for ever.

Thoroughly recommend. Lovely relaxing weekend, with all staff going out of their way to make it enjoyable. Would like to go back during the warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor waterside facilities (we stayed in February). We would like to have had more information about the hotel location, we did not know it was on a fairly main road in a town! We were disturbed by a call from reception to advise that our shower seemed to be leaking through the ceiling in the room below and we were made to feel that this was something we had done wrong and this was clearly a problem with the installation or drainage of the shower tray!I would recommend this hotel on the basis of the location in the Cotswalds between Bath and Cheltenham and because of the great restaurant. The setting was magnificent. Nailsford turned out to be a much more attractive town than Stroud (which I thought was bit tacky and not worth the time we spent there. I am currently writing a book on the history of bread, so the sight of the innards of a flour mill was a particular bonus. Public space was good. Gardens were lovely. Staff helpful. (99814073)
