Good food and beer made for a pleasant stay

The walls and floors are perhaps a little thin for a hotel - can hear shower in next door room and floors creak somewhat.

The bar area is unappealing and heated only at one end - unfortunately the smallest end with room for only a few people.
The dining room is laid out like a function room - no atmosphere whatsoever.
The lunch time roast was poor quality meat - particularly the beef.
The evening menu looked expensive & uninspired - £14.00 for chicken breast wrapped in bacon!
To me, this Inn looks better on the outside than in!

The friendlyness of the staff and the excellent food more than made up for the slight inadequacies of the accomodation.

The friendlyness of the staff and the excellent food

The room was slightly tired with some broken or missing fittings. Nothing that a little TLC wouldn't cure.
Armine from Derbyshire, GB (Mature couple) 06 October 2007

coming from a family heavily involved in the tourist industry for many years,my only real critiscm would be that the advert for this picturesque pub in such beautiful surroundings, does not do it justice!! more picture's = more customer's = more money!
(97172244)

we liked the fact that, unlike most places, the double room actually has a double bed, rather than two singles pushed together.it is unusual to be in a separate block from the pub itself, but it has been finished to a beautiful standard and we look forward to staying there again soon.

I personally would have liked a little more in the way of a FULL english breakfast.I would'nt consider it greedy to expect more than one sausage, one egg,one tomato, one hash brown, one mushroom and a teaspoon of beans! having said that it did taste great! smashing pot of tea!

The food & staff excellent. Staff friendly & helpful. Bedroom comfortable with a pretty bed spread.

Shower looked tied although clean. Again the same with the towels.
Better pillows on the bed as they were very flat.

We liked the feeling of being off the beaten track; the staff were helpful and friendly; the food delicious. Other guests were quiet and parking was excellent. The hotel was in easy range of the places we wished to visit - Longleat etc. As gardeners, we appreciated the hanging baskets!
(99320872)

The hotel is situated in a quiet, peaceful part of the countryside and reminds you of times past.

The room we were allocated was slightly cramped.
