Durlock Lodge was a superb overnight stay. It is a lovely house in a beautiful, quiet village. The room was spacious & comfortable and the facilities excellent. The high quality of service was completely unobtrusive. The experience could not have been bettered & we have already recommended it to friends. Thank you. (97324906)
It did what it said on the tin! Friendly, well-organised, peaceful, and a fascinating location, well placed for exploring the Thanet coast and countryside. (97395929)
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you want a quiet place to stay in a typical English Village. There are several different places to eat, including a superb pub, indian and chinese restaurants. The only problem we experienced was locating the hotel in the village, the roadsigns were not particularly helpful.. The lodge and village were full of authentic old-school charm and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. There are very nice restaurants and pubs just a short walk from the lodge and plenty to do within a short drive. The lodge also kept lots of pamphlets of things to do in the area. Everyone we met was really friendly and we had a great time. (99178559)
I was happy until I wanted to go to sleep and the fact that I kept being woken up by someone banging up and down stairs was pure thoughtlessness. I understand the building is old and that there will be creaking however the endless banging by running was inexcusable and I was happy to leave after having a restless sleep. It was a real shame as everything else was fine! (99901339)

Breakfast was not included in the price. It was available on a basis whereby you collected some items then went to your room to eat. The croissants did not include butter. The shower was very difficult to work adequately - either too hot or too cold. The TV was blurred. Why is effort not given to creating a decent picture on the TV. It is true that we are on holiday, and will not be watching TV all day. However, in the evening we may want to watch some TV. This was not possible at the Hotel. The Hosts were friendly, the room was very clean and pleasant with a nice view. The town is very pleasant, and the locality. The bad points are quite small, and if rectified would make a large difference to the stay. (3305202680)

I would have liked to have known when I booked that a buffet breakfast was available at a very reasonable charge, instead I had to contact the hotel direct to find this out. (3305102211)

There was nothing I would have liked to have known that wasn't presented when booking. If I needed to make any criticism, it would be the lack of a milk jug in the room. Every time you wanted milk, it was in the fridge outside the room and you had to go out and get it. (3304869968)

Overall we enjoyed our stay although for a family with two children we had to book two rooms which therefore became expensive. There was no cooked breakfast which for the price we thought should have been included. Continental breakfast was an extra. (2954489)
studio cosy très bien équipé et complétement indépendant ne permettant aucun rapport avec les hotes.Pub très sympa dans le village petit déjeuner continental à préparer soi-meme à régler en supplément (2950393)
Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a beautiful house. Can't wait for an opportunity to return. (2923834)

Had a fabulous, albeit short, stay. A friendlier welcome would be impossible to find. Will be returning as soon as the opportunity arises. (2700618)
a very nice place to stay , the owner was very helpful with regard to local amenities/interests, i.e. pubs & eating out, there was a great family atmosphere, the rooms were well appointed, and clean, the durlock lodge is very central for a visit to the Kent countryside, the beautiful City of Canterbury, or the Kent coast (Ramsgate half hour away) I would not hesitate in reccomending it (2711352)
Comfortable accommodation in a lovely village (1900106)
Great room in a great house. Friendly, personal welcome. Quiet location, lovely village, great pubs! Room was large and shower was powerful. Interesting continental style breakfast available from outside your room if you wish. We enjoyed our stay and would have been happy to stay for longer, felt like a home away from home. (2433341)
Car parking area not very secure, rough gravel area. Welcome was excellent, beds were comfortable with both feather and foam pillows (I like feather and my daughter likes foam so we were both happy). We had to eat our breakfast in our own room, there was no cooked breakfast provided and yet breakfast had an extra charge of £3.50 each. The map provided from the on-line booking was easy to follow, and we found the lodge with no difficulties. A very pleasant village with a variety of places to get an evening meal. (2409402)
I live on the south coast of England, I won a flight on EUjet flying from Manston airport in Kent (near Ramsgate), I was travelling on public transport. I needed a place to stay overnight as close to the airport as possible and walking distance from a railway station. I looked at hotels in Ramsgate and did not see anything I liked so I searched the samll towns around the airport and one which had a railway station from London was Minster. I then found the activehotels web site on the internet and through the site found Durlock Lodge. The hotel was a 5 minute walk from Minster Station and very close to the Airport too, an excellent location. I am a 5 star traveller so I was nervous about using a small country hotel but this was a solo weekend break, the flight was free so I did not want to add to the cost, Durlock Lodge was perfect for location and price. I thought, no matter what it was like it was a bed for the night and inexpensive. I arrived late(21:00), tired and hungry. I was greeted at the door by the owner who took my money as I was leaving early the next day, booked me a taxi to the airport for the morning, directed me to the local tandoori restaurant in the village and showed me to my room. I was pleasantly surprised by the homely, clean, quiet, well appointed en suite room. I had tea and coffee making facilities with real milk and fresh orange juice in a fridge on a landing outside my room. Breakfast was available at a small extra charge. There was a TV and more than adequate storage space in the room. The Hotel is situated in a quiet residential area in a very pleasant little village. I had a great meal, a great sleep and the taxi arrived on time in the morning to take me to the airport. A very pleasant experience and one I would recommend to anybody wanting this kind of country setting. An excellent base for discovering this corner of Kent or wanting a place to stay the night before using the airport. (2322936)

It was a surprise that the room was self catering but very useful - had we have known, we would have brought breakfast with us. The furnishings were of very good quality - as was the cleanliness. We didn't really see the staff as we were located in an annexe, but the peace and quiet and tranquility of the village was a real luxury. (1635684)

We only stayed for one night as we were meeting friends from Ramsgate but noted that the self contained accommodation can be booked on a weekly basis (very reasonable terms). Everything for a self-catering stay is provided and the appartment makes a wonderful, comfortable base to visit the historic sites in East Kent or even take a day trip to France. The accommodation is within a short walk of pubs and restaurants and Minster village itself is idyllic. Couldn't be better. We certainly can recommend The Bell pub and the Indian restaurant opposite - both within a few minutes walk!! Also an ideal place to stay overnight before jetting off from Kent International Airport which is a few minutes drive from the B&B. (1522851)
